I have never used Irfanview, so I do not know the answer.  But if no one gives you a adequate answer, just unistall it.

Installing IrfanView should have no effect on CFS2 or anything else.

I know that but I doubt very much that IrfanView has anything to do with this. It's a graphics editing program. I've used it without a single problem since it was first released many years ago.

Jimclarke you are probably better off asking this question on the Aircfaft and 3 Design forum. I"am sorry I was not able to help you out but this other members might be able to help you out.

I don't see why James. This is a CFS2 problem & I know just a little about CFS2. I'm also very familiar with IrfanView which I suspect has nothing to do with this at all. Now, if Jim cares to respond with a little more information maybe I or someone else can figure it out.

PS. Your original suggestion to uninstall IrfanView was a good one but as I said before I doubt very much that will fix this problem.

I agree with you Hagar. This is one of the best forum for CFS2 and also recommend for him to ask most  if not all his question about CFS2 right here. Your are very knowledgable member and I know a little bit and maybe with the help of others this member will get the help his asking for. I just thought some other member of another forum maybe be able to help him out in this very technical question as well. Just remember when it comes to CFS2 for most or 98% of your question about this is the forum.

Jimclarke the more information you give us the better off we will be to help you out. I"am just guessing here. But when you first install it you probably made a msitake.
I know I have made many mistakes my self. Its the only way to learn.

Right. Please let's leave it there until Jim responds. This is getting ridiculous. LOL Roll Eyes

I suspect there is a completely different reason for Jim's problem. IrfanView is a handy little graphics editing program completely separate from CFS2 or any other MS sim. It's very popular for processing screenshots & photos posted on this forum every day. I've been using it for many years & it runs happily alongside different versions of CFS/FS. I can't see how installing an unrelated program would cause this or any other conflict with CFS2. It would be the same as saying installing Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or even MS Paint messed up your aircraft textures.

PS. You might like to try it yourself. IrfanView

Just a stab in the dark, but has anybody tried running compatability mode?

Mushroom_Farmer I was thinking the same thing. But first I think he should try to reinstall CFS2. Probably that will fix the problem. If not he should try the compabilty method.

Try this first:I"am sorry my friend but seems to me that your PC is going to one of those PC kapup moments. The only easy solution is to reinstall CFS2. Its very easy and you will not have to lose all your addon planes. This will probably fix your problem. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that you need to backup the World/ Texure and Scenery folders inside the SCENEDB Folder if you had them upgraded.

Here are instructions on how to reinstall your CFS2 program and not to lose most of your addon By Hagar:

http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm

Just remember to press the CFS2 command Keyboard instead of the CFS1 ones. This way you will be able to communicate with your wingmen and also be able to use all the other CFS2 featres.

I know now Thanks to Hagar making that program available to me that this program is unlikely to be the problem.

I hope I have been able to help you.

That's a matter of preference & would depend on which keyboard layout you use. I always used the CFS1 layout as I couldn't see the point of learning yet another new set of key commands. The wingmen & all other commands are avalable in both. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwfaq2.htm
