skipping to waypoint during combat (Read 1749 times)

I've had this game for about 6 years now, and one of the things that has always bugged me is not being able to bring up waypoints during combat.

For example, my planes damaged and I'm out of ammo.  So, what should I do?  Fly home obviously!  I am of no further use on this mission.  But I can't use the "skip action" feature since there are "enemies near by" and I can't find a map to bring up that will help me navigate my way home.  So I end up circling and evading enemies until mission objectives are accomplished or just trying to fly off in one direction until I'm out of the combat zone, but often this eventually results in me getting shot down, or sometimes warping back to the fight.

Does anyone know how to bring up a map or waypoints during combat?

Thanks.

Slewing is possible in Free Flight & Quick Combat only. In campaign missions you have to fly back or bail out. If damaged, try to leave the battle arena at low level. Once clear of the enemy you can climb, if possible, and skip back. If your plane is significantly damaged you may still crash. In that case your best option is to fly to friendly airspace and ditch or bail out.

I just answered your question in the CFS3 forum.

Adding this entry to combatfs.cfg will allow you to warp at will in QC & Missions. I'm not sure if it works online.

Thanks for your responses (both of yours, Hagar).  For the record, my question did get answered first in the CFS3 forum Wink

I don't know why microsoft didn't just include a map you can view in flight.

Happy flying.

It was me that answered it & only because I happened to be online when you posted it. I rarely, if ever, visit the CFS3 forum. Tongue

I think that was addressed in CFS2.

I asked for CFS for Christmas, so I'll find out soon enough!
