Since this morning FSX is not starting anymore Sad
I gets stuck on the opening splash screen and doesnt advance from there. I think the problem started last night when i tried to close fs and it didnt shut down.
I had to use CTRL-SHIFT-DEL to close it.
I allready tried the repair function in the installer but that did nothing. Will a complete reinstall work or is this a deeper problem in my pc? I also have heavy problems with my Reflex RC sim that loses all its textures after a while sometimes and completely crashes Angry

Been there done that. I live in fear every day that it might not start up lol.  Roll Eyes I did a re-install (which used up my second activation!) and it worked and it will NEVER do that again. Because I tell myself that it won't. Grin Anyway, re-install is the way to go. Wink

Complete reinstall done and still no joy Undecided Undecided Undecided Sad Undecided Angry Angry
This is so annoying Sad

Edit: I found the solution on the Avsim forums after a google search and the problem was an error in the logbook file...after deleting it the problem is gone and FS is starting again Grin Crazy that this small file was cousing the problem..this might be includet in the FSX faq becouse a lot of people seem to have this problem.

Hmmm... that was odd... I had to do a re-install... Anyone think deleting my logbook will make it log flights again?

Quite possibly. I had to use a hex editor to fix my corrupted
logbook. The symptom is FSX hanging on the splash screen.

Renaming the logbook allowed me to get FSX running again.
I then fixed the problem with the logbook.BIN file and recovered
my logged flights.

You might also try using the logbook editor that someone has
written. It's available in the library over at Avsim. It might "fix"
a logbook that has stopped logging flights.

I've not had THAT particular problem yet but many people
seemed to be experiencing it. MS sure screwed the pooch
when they went from a pure text logbook file to their "new"
BIN file format....
