Man that movie rocked. I guess Daniel shut up all those critics about him not being Suave enough. My only disappiontment though....

was that pitiful waste of that sexy, ooooooooooooo so stylish, eye-watering Aston Martin DBS, in the ONLY car chase of the movie.... not to mention lasting for less that 30 seconds....

But the ending was totally hot....

"Mr White. We need to talk..."
"Who's this?"
<<Shot in the leg>>
"Bond... James Bond"

Damn good movie indeed.

You can tell it was really playing to the young crowd (Americans at least) by the extended hold 'em scenes (I can think of no other reason for them).  Excellent movie overall, much darker and grittier than your average Bond movie, which is a good thing.

Great movie. Craig couldn't have done better, and Pierce couldn't have played the better Bond.

Now just to be a dick, without useing Google can anyone tell me

1: What Cellphone both Bond and Vesper used.
2: What two different watches Bond wears
3: The name of the Sailboat they are on in Venice.

Yes I know all the answers, I've only seen the movie....3 times.

Cheers

Anyone else ROFL at the Skyfleet 570? That plane was a cross between an A380 a 747 and a B-52!!!   Shocked It seemed that after watching Die Another Day's cross between an IL-76 and An-124 they thought they could pull off this thing... /\

I didn't really enjoy it... Bond drive a Ford? It seemed to have lacked that 007 charm... like in The World Is Not Enough. When 007's Z8 got cut in half and he said "Q's not gonna like this". The only gadget(s) was a slide out tray with a defib. What happened to the usual car chase with gadgets? Even though in Goldeneye we never got a car chase with Bonds Z3 we atleast got a tank chase! It seemed like 50% of the movie was spent infront of a poker table... Anyway that is just my oppinion.  Wink

I totally agree that it was rather ugly. They couldn't have made a modern jetliner any more hedious.
Cheesy

That is because with Casino Royale, the movie describes the advent of Bond as a 00. The actor who potrayed Q died within a year of the release of Die Another Day Cry. Hence the movie lacks any gadgets more sophisticated than a GPS tracking device. You will also notice that Moneypenny was pulled. The creators of Bond are now deciding whether these 2 characters are important to the "new" Bond story, and whether/how they will return in the one's to follow. Alot has been changed in Bond... right down to a male artist singing the theme song... hasn't happened in nearly 2 decades.
It was rather dissapointing for me as well, being a major Bond fan. The movie seems to have lost that action luster. I do agree that too mcuh time was spent behind the poker table. But what the poker games took away in action, it made up for in suspense and story content. It all came together in the final 20 minutes, just when I thought they were goin to leave me hanging without one last action scene.

I certianly have to disagree there... Brosnan was the best Bond to ever hit the stage. The guy with 2 first names has alot to prove yet... he's certianly proven that he can act an be just as suave, while being simultaneously rigid and ruthless  Cool(although we haven't seen Bond seriously weep over a dead woman since George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service), but to par him with Peirce just yet? Uh uhn.

I couldn't agree more MOUSE ACE. Brosnan WAS the BEST Bond ever. But the original Q died within the year of the release of TWINE (The World Is Not Enough) and I don't think John Cleese is dead yet...  Wink

Exactly what I thought... Also for me the Skyfleet 570 (Airbus A380 *cough*) cheapened the whole thing... I don't think I've ever seen anything so fake for a 007 movie... I mean there are over the top things like Bird 1 and Atlantis but the Skyfleet 570... woah!

Onne could argue that in this bond, for the first time or so. The movie wasn't just a collection of several sex and action scenes but one with a bit more story in it. That Vesper was a double crosser and was going to die was clear from about 60% of the movie and onwards. It has been mentioned in one of the earlier bond movies that Bond had only one woman he truely ever loved before and that she was killed so the makers did that right. If you think the Skyfleet was fake then at least they did the surroundings right because afaik the Skyfleet was located at Dunsfold park and was was never no where near an airfield of the size of the field in the Bond movie.

This was a different bond for sure. It broke with several traditions all at once ( Blond bond, no Q and no moneypenny) but IMHO it was very well executed and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

One of the most funny things was when the Aston crashed, When that happened, every guy in the cinema went like ouch! it almost physically hurt... that was really cool.

I don't think Mr craig is a bad Bond either. Au Contraire..... I thought he did rather well.!

It's actually a standard 747-236B slightly modified for this film with twin-engined pods on the inboard pylons & fuel tanks on the outer ones. I posted shots of it in the Photos forum after visiting the Dunfold air show earlier this season. Report here. http://commanderbond.net/article/3373

I know you're familiar with Dunsfold Soui but the airfield is bigger than you might think. Check this out. ...
The main runway has been shortened in recent years but it used to be one of the longest in the country.
Quote:
BIZARRE but true: one side of Dunsfold Aerodrome has the same dimensions as the cargo area of Miami International Airport. At night under the spotlights when the cameras roll no-one would guess that it wasn’t the USA. Watch carefully the first 10 minutes of the new James Bond movie Casino Royale – it’s Dunsfold in disguise. The equally heavily disguised 747 used in the film that caused a spate of ‘haunted plane scares camera crew’ stories in the national press is still sitting quietly on the Dunsfold runway.

PS. I can't really comment as I haven't seen the film.

There wasn't any Q in Dr. No either. All they've done is taken Bond back to how it was in the beginning in the early Connery days.
