Build your own plane?  I believe it's a pretty popular thing to do.  There are plenty of kits on the market.

There's a whole amazing world of homebuilt aircraft... from kits, from scratch, you name it...many of these designs give you more for your money than certified production aircraft; the only requirement is lots of your time and patience. Check out the list of designs on the Kitplanes site...

My teacher at school is currently involved in building an entirely new aircraft. Composites off course.

The idea is to build not just one, but at least 4-5 of them.

Cool project, but apparantly costs a fortune Smiley

My school built an aircraft back in the 80's. First school do to it in England and I'm not sure whether it's still the only one.
