The late, great Michael Bloomfield (1943-1981).  His extensive discography includes recordings with The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Electric Flag, Bob Dylan's 'Highway 61 Revisited', 'Super Session' (with Al Kooper & Stephen Stills), Janis Joplin's 'Kosmic Blues', the list just goes on and on and on up to about 52 albums worth.

Well, you can't beat straight-ahead delta or Chicago blues from the masters (Muddy, Hopkins, the Wolf, BB.), but I went out to see G. Love and Special Sauce the other night, and they were very cool: sort of funky-bluesy-jazzy; pretty good for some white kids from Philly. Grin

Another one who springs to mind is Johnny Winter- he does serious justice to the blues but always brought it forward with his blues-rock stuff.
