P4 2.8
1GB RAM
AGP ATI Radeon 9550 256MB

It crawls along at 7FPS, and will only run at 20+FPS with ALL sliders DOWN TO THE MINIMUM!!
I will stick with FS9 and FSP as I am as happy as a pig in *@!* knowing that my autogen is very dense and my FS9 looks amazing while running at 30FPS!

From what I saw, FSX DOES look more attractive with sliders up, they really have done a better job with the scenery, but running at 7FPS, whats the point?

FSX will be in the back of a draw untill I can afford a new PC.

Avaiation-wise, it doesnt seem like FSX has much more to offer (how can you beat FS9?), its just tarted up to look more appealing, although the performance is appauling!

im sorry but i have to disagree with your last remark. Why is Bill a thief? It's not his fault that your computer can't run FSX.

9550 256MB = low grade video card so you get low grade FSX and med-low FS9 performance

you cannot hope for a dunkey to win kentuky derby, so dont expect a low grade card to give you lighting and high graffics with 20 fps, it just dont work.

He is a thief!! He has put a programme onto the market for which no hardware or software exists (Vista and DX10 are not yet on the market!!(hardware just!!)) And when it does become available it will need at least 12 months of ironing out the bugs. In other words FSX is on the market tooooooo early. And HE's making money out of you all. Thre rest of us will sit and wait until all/most of the bugs have gone and the new hardware is affordable!!

Better to release it early.. I think. It will help the debugging.. and in the mean time.. if you DO have the hardware to run it,  you can enjoy it now (I am).. Holding on to software until EVERYbody who wants it, can afford the hardware, makes no sense. And besides.. if that time ever came (it never will) newer, better hardware will be out and take the simming experience to ever higher levels..

The problem is that only now is hardware available that can run FS9 smoothly. If people "can" afford to go out and buy a top system and Vista and DX10 "just" to run FSX then good luck to them. But for most of us mortals that doesn't make economic sense "and" we can't afford it. I would say that at least 50% of the sim community is still upgrading just in order to run FS9 well! Let alone FSX!!!

Yes alrot. But it is explained by the fact that some people give up way to easily and just prefer to stick a "Crap" sticker on FSx without even trying to fix their problem.

I agree.. (and I'm one of them.. My system just got to the point where it could handle everything FS9 throws at it).. but that's no reason for Microsoft to NOT release FSX.. is it ?

I'd like to run FSX like I did FS9 (full everything.. loads of ad-on scenery and AI traffic).. That would probably take a $3500 computer.. I'm like most. I'll wait until the hardware comes down in price ..  mean time.. I'm enjoying it.. and it would be goofy to expect Microsoft to keep me (and the folks who can afford $3500 computers) from enjoying it now... just because everyone can't. AND..  the feedback will be quicker.. and hardware advances (read: "price reductions") will happen faster too.

i am sick of this, its got to far!

why is bill a theif because u bought software your PC cant handle. and in all fairness you are expecting to much out of FSX you realy are. granted DX10 is not released and thats what we all want but why would you even buy FSX you know its demanding!
you insult Microsoft  and why..... because your an idiot. this board is just getitng full of eejits saying "FSX doesnt work and this is my specs" and it turns out you have a 3 year old stock dell... WAKE UP IDIOTS and look at min specs. then read some forums (especialy with FS) and see how people think it will run. and if you dnt then your takeing a gamble but again at YOUR risk and its in no way microsofts fault.

seriously. if you want to bitch about faults in the game FUCK OFF to the Microsoft FSX official forums and have fun thier, but i dnt think we need it here. if its somethign strange like the big green patch in the arizona desert thats fine, we all have a giggle, but your own stupidity keeo it to yourself because do you realy want to look like an idiot...

If someone is having a bad time with FSX and tries to vent some of his frustration here on the forum why oh why do the same people over and over again have to always start slinging personal insults at that person.

If you are serious about wanting to lower the temperature on the forum, leave things alone for once, let the person have their say and just keep quiet. Hasn't it occurred to you that that's the way threads like this just cool down and eventually dry up? Hurling insults and abuse just does the complete opposite.

Instead of spending all your time here looking for people to attack why don't you just do what others of us are doing - flying FSX, finding things to enjoy about it and posting screenies when you do.

That might be a better advertisement for both you and the program. And other people are getting bored with your message as well - we've heard it enough now.

BTW - please don't waste your time hurling abuse at me. I'm off flying FSX - which if you like it so much is what you should be doing, not spending all your time in here sniping at the gripers.

RB - Venting frustration is one thing, crudeness and vulgarity are another.

Unfortunately, every time a new version of Flight Simulator comes along, we can expect similar "factions"...

It's great!

I like its potential.

It sucks!

Then there are the "Bill/Microsoft is evil, because xxxx product doesn't run on my machine...!" comments, "Microsoft should have made FSX to run on my machine and issue free upgrades whenever I upgrade my machine!"

After a while, venting frustrations becomes a drag, and a waste of "bits and bytes".   Like you, I'm spending more time either on FSX, FS9, and heck, even FS2002 with all sliders maxed out!  <hehe>

What we, as moderators, should not, can not, and will not tolerate, is invectives, personal insults, foul language.

When a piece of software is released, no matter how hard it's tested and on how many systems, there WILL be some combinations that were totally missed, and even on systems with the same video card and otherwise similar specs, there may be some settings that completely change performance.

I realize that  in you, I am "preaching to the converted" in the sense that I perceive that you either share, or at least understand, my reasonings, so I thank you for letting me use your reply as a sounding board.
