This game is the best ever and it is free. Here's the link:http://www.flyaceshigh.com/frindex.html If you get it click on the H2H, or 8 Player button this is free along with the offline pratice is free but the online button is free for 2 weeks.
If you get it let me know here because i'm thinking of starting a squadron Called the 121st Fighter Wing and then we can go from there. Cheesy

i have tried it about 2 weeks ago, i was seriously dissapointed.

the flight models are really sub-par. regardless of speed every time i try to turn the aircraft even in a shallow bank the  whole thing shakes and stalls and makes a strange buzzing/ clicking/ groaning sound. meanwhile my competitors are swooping and swirling all over the place.

on top of that, the interface for selecting teams and chatting is not all that user friendly.

there is virtually no organization whatsoever to the game play...

for example when you link up with a squadron it will be a squadron comprised of all different airplanes. A P-51, a spitfirem a P-47 and a Corsair all on the same formation. as opposed to a flight of spitfires, or a flight of 109's you might be joining a force and fighting an enemy which is made up of historical aircraft from two totally different campaigns! im too type A personality for that.

I really didnt care for the way you capture territory by landing at the airfield and waiting a minute or two - at least i think thats how it works - half the time i couldnt even get off the ground for the count of people swooping down and shooting me up time after time on my takeoff roll.

and i may be mistaken here but i think the game is only free after two weeks for the offline practices... if you wish to continue online play it is 14 bucks a month.

personally it left a bad taste in my mouth as far as combat flight sims go.  Sad

The strange buzzing sound is a stall warning. It gets louder the closer you get to a stall.

I think the flight models are okay. Similar to Il-2 but without the crazy spins.

I personally don't mind having Bf-109 and Corsair in the same squadron, it is a nice change.

There are historical squadrons too, and historical missions where selectable aircraft are locked for the teams.

It is made by the same people that made Warbirds. So, it is pretty much like warbirds.

I agree about the interface though, it sucks.

The game is free for H2H 8 player games.

I think it is a decent game. I wouldn't pay $14 a month for it though, but then again I am not an online combat sim fanatic.

tried it, dissapointed with it

just so crappy i suppose is my summary, everything felt to balanced out as in, if the allies a/c is fast, it would have weak cannons, and the german one would be slow and have stgrong guns. (just a example of balanced games)

yeah - i had an idea that the buzzing sound was the stall warning, but if a spit or a 109 stalls out that easily in a steep turn i would much rather go against the enemy in a trusty cessna 152 with a colt 45 out the side window

the interface and the realism in my opinion is really sub-standard. I seriously doubt that every fighter aircraft in ww2 had the exact same stall warning system installed. I know thats a bit picky... but when i have to speed up to 350 knots just to get the thing to maneuver - its no good in a turn and burn dog fight. Im fairly certain that most of those fighters corner better than that.

sure - having all of those fighters in one squadron gives a good diverse feeling - but where realism is concerned - its just not happening. im not sure if there was ever one single battle in ww2 that involved a formation of spitfires and hellcats against a flight of Me-109's and Zeros anywhere near france.

i give the guys that created that game kudos for their efforts, but i think that the game is a bit mis-directed and under developed. given a few minor changes the game would be great.

there have only been two games recently that i thought were complete dissapointments - BLAZING ANGELS was one... and ACES HIGH 2 was the other.

Please tell me how you can be disappointed with a free game... Huh

Tried it a while back, and was quite a bit of fun. However, now I feel like downloading it again!

I"am interested in the whole World war two Aviation experience in its totality not just in the Eropean Theater. Does it have a Pacific Theater as well its component of planes and is it only a Online Sim. In other words can I fly offline as well?

Its Europe, Asia, Pacific, Med, Africa...

As for offline, its not really existant. Just basically load up a map and fly around...every airbase has 4 aircraft in perpetual loop over the field.
