I think you're correct, therefore I assume it will be released when Vista is ready. Wink

Not much point in doing it before. Tongue

I think that's highly unlikely. Even if it were possible I suspect it would be illegal.

Microsoft should include a tube of "personal lubricant" with each release of their software.  When one considers the powerhouse of software engineers at their disposal that get paid god-only-knows how much to pore over their soon-to-be released commercial software for years prior, there is no excuse whatsoever for software that is released that should not work to an appreciable level on the 'current' standard of PC that is being employed by most.  All of you know as well as I do that they have (and have had) employees sifting through all of these forums and documenting feedback (as they have for years).  I think we have been way too easy on those pirates (board your ship and steal your money, in a roundabout way) while they take their sweet time to release patches and upgrades that they knew would need to be released long before anyone ever installed the product to begin with.  And if they suggest that "user feedback" is key to fine-tuning the product, then that tells me it was defective to begin with, they knew it, and yet it was released anyway and guess what?  We bought it!

I am not sure what the problem is here.

If you buy a new car the goodies from your old car probably will not fit/work on your pride and joy so you go buy new goodies to make it look like you want.

If you buy a new computer OS like Vista you will most definitely need new accessories to make it look like you want (DX-10 GPU).

The Vista/GPU upgrade will cost a whole heck of a lot less than the wheel/tire combo I just bought.

If you are not happy with that fact, don't upgrade to Vista. Microsoft has put out plenty of warning flags about system requirements for both Vista and FSX.

Yup. What do M$ say that the min specs for FSX are? 400mhz and a 32mb graphics card? Grin

No offense to Richardd43, but he clearly has $$$ to spend on his rig.  I mean, how many of us realistically come close to his setup?  I don't think I would have any complaints about FSX (or anything else in life) with that rig.  Perhaps it all comes down to "free market" (at least, the illusion of such) and how much money one has.  I do not have much, and maybe that's why I am so bitter.  Anyone else relate?  Or am I the only one being truly honest?

What ever they said was minimum specs was true... just like if you tried to run Adobe Premiere on what Adobe calls "minimum specs" (or even a medium grade system) it would bring your computer to its knees so lets not go on about that

It's is a mute issue. It is up to the user to provide the hardware for their desired level of software use, not Microsoft to design it so it runs full speed on old hardware.

dont count on it DX10 working with XP.. M$ allowing that to be possible would kill VISTA sales... on top of that I do believe some of the core elements rely on the VISTA kernal and that is not going to get migrated into XP

I doubt it will be backwards compatable, at all, and still allow full function or close to it.

Not quite. but close. I am 63 years old, retired USAF, retired Lockheed and on Social Security. I am also on disability for a bad back that keeps me in the house much of the time.

My only hobby is computers so any money I have pretty much goes to the hobby. My Signature computer was built 1 piece at a time.

My wife and I both work on line to keep busy (and make extra computer money).

My advantage is all of my kids are grown and I don't have to (or can't) chase the girlies anymore.

BTW I love retirement

dx10 is for vista, vista is coming out in january 7 i read,dx9L is only for vista and is to play games for dx9 like fs9.

and people dont asume anything if you are not sure which video card will word for dx10 just go to the manufacturer web site and find out, evidence is better than ignorance, think about it.
if you have a nvidia or ati card see the web site, if your card is working well with other games but fsx just wait for vista and then decide, i said many times that i will buy nvidia 7950 dx2 but im only doing it to satisfy myself, that does no make fsx work better.
im smart and i know that no matter what i do fsx will be low in fps until vista is out, which by the way will be around 280 (well 239.00usd) bucks for premiun. just look http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/editions/home_premium.mspx

The reason DX10 only works on Vista, is because it's designed for it. It's like trying to run Mac OsX on a Windows XP computer. Impossible.

Gold?

far from it..

its still being worked on no matter what you may have seen or read.

Be careful about jumping on VISTA and expecting allot. It will be at least 6 months before it is truly ready for prime time and I would not touch a DX10 card until next year when the smoke clears.
