I guess this is a real aviation topic...  Roll Eyes

When i bid a schedule so that i get 4 days off at the end of October and 2 days off at the start of november than after those 6 days of sitting around the house, watching TV, answering to nobody, having the wife treat melike a king... it is nearly impossible to gather up the motivation to go slug it out again on a 5 day trip.

I feel like a kid getting up in the morning before school. "Do i have to? ? ? ? "

My mind always has this conversation with itself:

"Maybe we could bang in sick for this sequence."

"No... sick calls get reviewed at the end of the year and i already have taken two days off"

"Well... maybe a personal day would be in order - just one more day of chilling out like a college student - tell them your car broke down and you cant get to your domicile in time for the trip."

"No... my car DID break down 2 months ago, hence the new car"

"oh... just suck it up and go do the trip, it will be over in a few days."

"-Sigh-   Aaaaalriiight"   Roll Eyes

Dont get me wrong, the flying is great, but the 3 hour drive to work and the 17 days a month away from home are getting really old!

Well, I hate to say it in yet ANOTHER one of your topics, but-

Exactly why my CFI quit. And he only had an hour and a half commute (one-way).

Well, what would you rather be doing?
Before you answer, remember: "work" is just another 4-letter word that ends in "K".

If you can, do.  I have a feeling that my CFI didn't have the aviation bug really, really bad-he just liked flying.  He's qualified in other fields too (degree in biology, worked in saled, etc.), so he always had an out, and he decided to take it.  If you can hang in there, it becomes very rewarding.  Of course, I don't have to tell you this.

If I don't get to fly in the USAF, I probably won't be a pilot.  Since I'll most likely have a masters/PhD when I leave school there's not much point.

Well beef... like i said, i love the job, but the things i hate about the job - I REALLY hate about it. there is a lot to put up with for what they pay, but its kinda that way with every job. There is just something wrong with getting off work when it is dark and its STILL dark when you go back to work. We had an overnight that got us into the hotel at 9:30 ish and we were scheduled for a departure time that mandated a 5:15am van... thats just not right hahaha. There are a very few things in the world i wake up for at 5:15 in the morning. Explosions, Gunshots, and intercourse is just about it! of course then "they" expect you to go on flying 7 legs that day until 8:00pm! I dont mean to sound like a wuss... but anyone who has flown into and out of a busy terminal area for 8 hours with a long enough lunch brake to wolf down a jr cheese burger knows what im talking about.

Its was kinda nice to be parked next to omni-air international. When they park and all those troops pile off the plane and most of them have been gone from their homes for a year or so. Its a nice reminder that i really dont have anything to complain about over being gone 70ish% of any given month!
