I'm getting pretty sick of LOMAC having only limited aircraft, but it looks great.

The fact that they're all lumped together in a value pack though says something about the quality of actual gameplay.

Basically you'll love it or you'll hate it.

The problem with the gamepak versions is they are most likely not patched.

IL2 is no good by itself, and same with Pacific Fighters.

You need the complete install of IL2/AEP/FB/PF and update with the ubermega size patches to completely get the full sim, once that is done you got the best combat sim ever made.

Same with LOMAC isn't any good on any system unless it is fully patched, make certain to check your version number in the software that came with the Game pak. If it isn't 1.12 then chances are it won't do squat no matter how powerful your pc is Wink

Again once patched LOMAC is awesome both graphically and realism. And not a good first sim, it isn't jump in and fly you must actually learn all the systems.

Mobius says it takes a few hours to learn, if you consider 100 hours a few

I don't like IL-2, I just dont like the crappy graphics and lack of planes

Lack of planes? With a merged install along with the patches, and with the upcoming pay add-on there will be about 300 flyable aircraft in the sim!

The point is to get any new aircraft you have to install either an expansion pack or a 100mb+ patch. You cannot just browse a website, see an aeroplane, think "that'll be cool" then download and install it because that sort of thing doesn't exist for Il2.

Like I said, you'll either love it or hate it.

The flight models leave a little lot to be desired too.

Edit: Think about how many aircraft there are for CFS2. And for that you've only bought one game, not four, and no patches needed.

I told myself when I went into Best Buy that night that I wasn't going to buy anything but just look at the digital cameras, one of which is next on my purchasing agenda. Well, I saw these games and the price was right, so I capitulated. I wish I had kept the $20 in my pocket and just gone away with the back-up copy of FS2004 I snagged-- also $20. If nothing else, I have yet another brightly-printed box to put on my software shelf. I shall endeavor to better control myself next time...

I'd rather have a few well made aircraft than a million rubbish aircraft.

I agree. I like aircraft that are well thought-out and have virtual cockpits!

What? Do you really think that WWII fighters really stall that easily? Damn if they did then there wouldn't have been an air war. The 1% folks are very scathing too about the way the flight models change with every patch.

As for having a few well made aircraf than a million rubbish ones. I can agree with that. However, to get those few well made ones in IL2 you have to spend £120 on four seperate games that you can install as one. With CFS you spend £30 on one game and install what you want when you want.

It seems like rootbeer was less than impressed anyway.

Have you seen one at an airshow? They don't stall and go into a flat spin everytime they loop. Grin
