From BBC News:
Quote:
Nigerian sultan among crash dead

The spiritual leader of Nigeria's Muslims was among those killed after a plane carrying about 100 people crashed near the capital, Abuja, officials say.
The Sultan of Sokoto Mohammadu Maccido and his son, a senator, and other northern leaders were on board the ADC airlines flight to the city of Sokoto.

The plane crashed in a storm shortly after take-off, state radio said. Four people have reportedly survived.

This is Nigeria's third major air disaster in a little over a year.

AP news agency says that the plane was a Boeing 727, not a 737.

I guess this is why so many African airlines are banned from flying to Europe.

It is being reported that the pilot of a Nigerian airliner that crashed did not heed air traffic control advice to wait for stormy weather to clear before taking off.

Undecided  They can't make the call for you, but when a controller repeatedly warns you to wait a while, it's advice worth heeding... they've been sitting watching the weather all day, usually... sometimes they know better.

Take a look at this:
