I guess it is worth repeating..
The landing in the video is not an autoland.
The captain is flying manually looking through a heads-up-display.

Ask yourself, do you hear the autopilot disconnect upon touchdown?  8)

Could be, it's definetly a regional turboprop, and I dont think any of those are CAT III certified for autopilot conditions...
To fly into airports despite those conditions requires a HUD.  Smiley

Crazy approach.

If you read the comments below it says that it was a Dash 8 Q200.

Cat III approaches are fun.  Done many!! The landing is made at the top of the glide slope!! Meaning that you cannot afford to make too many control inputs. Everything has to be really small requiring the most accurate flying you will ever do. AND you MUSN'T be tempted to look away from the instruments. If you're still flying at 50ft then take a peek by all means.
Did a couple of autlolands in the VC10 where we couldn't see any lights at all until we were actually on the ground (I don't mean stars LOL!)

Most of the times you DONT do any control inputs at all since you elt the autopilots fly for you.
Did you do this in FS or what?

My thoughts exactly.
How about at night, in heavy seas...
The worst must be to miss the first trap, and have to try it again. Not fun.
I think I'd wear a diaper if I were a Navy aviator...  Lips Sealed

The Cat III landings in the VC10 were the most relaxing. The a/c flew itself onto the ground with a greater accuracy than could normally be obtained manually. Because i was in the jump seat the crew decided to show off and broke open thier sandwiches . So to say the autolands were a picnic would be absolutely true in these cases!!!

Yes as for myself I have done manual Cat III landings which have been close to the minimums. But, as you say the majority were on autopilot. (of course one does them on the sim but I have to say one doesn't really get the same sense of urgency!!!!!) The important thing is to acquire the top of the glide slope as accurately as possible and frequently this is better achieved manually.
don't even think about manual acquisition unless the conditions are smooth.
