***Make a backup of the aircraft.cfg file first******

That said   Wink

Have any of you tried changing the aircraft camera views ?

Seems the possibilities are endless..

You can put them literally anywhere.  Like the passenger seat in  a Baron.. or the belly of the DC-3.. or IN the passenger cabin in a 737 (doing that next)..

Lotsa fun  Grin

edit:  Ooops.. make that a KingAir..  the 737 has no cabin windows modeled

It's going to take some tweaking, because the camera seems to "eat" part of the model near it..

I thought it would be interesting to take a seat in the cabin, in flight (though this image is on the runway.. but you get the idea).. It would be a neat perspective for replays of landings too.

Roger that, Brett but just to the extent of using the ones' shipped with FSX.

The F1View mouse-use- thingy is cool and cycling thru views with the A key is neat and making the 2D cockpit transparent is good for seeing ahead during the approach and flare. That's about it for me. Cool.

That looks REALLY bad. The textures are blurry and/or the polygons on the ceiling aren't straight.

Yes, it's another improved new feature that we were all crying out for.....

Far too much effort in this sim has gone into providing stuff that was never needed at the cost of essential basics.

What is about MS that they always have to try to copy someone else's good idea and incorporate it in their software (they did it in Windows with stuff like the browser, media player etc) but when they do, they do it incredibly badly compared to the original but end up putting the original out of business?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't that possible in FS9? I've never tried it, but I could swear I've seen an option for it.

Yeah.. the interior model/textures aren't the best.. and the novelty of this idea is wearing off.. It was fun though.. to be a passenger in the KingAir during landing and take-off..  spooky-realistic..

And no.. camera definitions are in the aircraft.cfg file and new to FSX..

In addition to modifying them.. you can delete them too (if it bothers you that much)..

Hiya Brett

Yeah you can delete them, but the fact is the effort went into creating the system to do them in the first place.

I'm just putting together a thing on autogen which quite frankly is appalling in FSX. My first impressions are that it's much worse than in 04 - but when I get a bit of time later I'm gonna see whether that's actually yhe case or not.

Much better to have put the man hours into making excellent autogen that complements the super improved new mesh and terrain textures and does much more to improve immersion and realism than some crappy internal views that can be done perfectly well with the systems that are available already.

Hi Roller..

Yeah.. Ever since I quit obsessing with frame-rates and just started flying/enjoying FSX..  I'll have to agreee.. FSX autogen is like a higher grade of glass for a window that has a better view.. BUT the glass was installed improperly and is dirty and flawed. They took the time to improve the view but had to throw the window pane in at the last minute and didn't "care" that it was done poorly..

Its the same way in FS9 using recorder module.  Like sometimes if I want a wingview on a plane that doesnt have them modelled, I can make it in the outside using advanced spot views.  You could put the camera inside, but it gets all screwy with the camera's eating habits Roll Eyes

Yes, but unfortuneately deleting them won't get the 2D panel
BMP's back for views other than straight ahead.

IMO, MS really missed the boat by elminating those [FixedWindowxx] specifications.

Now, if the aircraft doesn't have a VC you are left with looking
out at wide open spce when you look left/right/back or on
the diagonals. Sad
