I know this is a silly question and I am sure I am following the instructions properly.

When using the GPS G1000 and use the nearest airports button, how do you get the curser to move down the airport list?

I hope someone can help me as I am in dispair, I must be missing something really simple here.

Press the center of the knob to enable the flashing cursor.

Full instructions are in the Help/Learning Center (nearly 40 pages!)...  8)

I have tried pressing the centre of the FMS button and just below it. The curser is still flashing over the first airport.

I have read the instructions and followed them.

When I rest my mouse over the centre though or off centre below the FMS button unlike when you are trying to use the page up page down part of the button and the + and - indicator shows, I get no other feed back showing only a hand showing.

I wonder if I could use the keyboard to do the same commands.

I hope you will stick with me.

Not suprising, I learned to fly in a G-1000, and I still don't know all of the features

While the cursor it flashing, use the Outer Knob (topmost -/+ mousepoints) to scroll through the list.

The mousepoints are very tiny and difficult to use, but otherwise the operation is identical with that of the default G500 version in the sim.

Here's a silly thought. Instead of scrolling through the list, why not type in the ICAO code using your keyboard? I tried it and it worked. Grin

Well, that wasn't the question he was asking about.  He wanted to know how to scroll through a list such as Nearest Airport, Nearest VOR, etc. where the "keyboard entry" isn't applicable... Wink

If wanting to look up a specific airport or navaid, then use the Waypoint Page(s) and the keyboard to enter the ICAO.

Same procedure with the DirectTo Page.  Click center knob to enable flashing cursor, click once on inner knob - mouse area to select the first letter, then type in the ICAO with the keyboard.  8)

Thanks all for your advice, I was in fact pressing the button in the wrong place, I can now scroll down the list in the NRST button, I don't think the keyboard works in this button (menu). I think using the keyboard in the direct to button is a good idea as well I might use it the most.

Regards

Steve
