Never tried the demo, is it possible the demo is restricted to default aircraft only?

Derek, haven't got the demo installed now, but you can use bits from the FS2004 747. You have to make sure you've got a full set of kit, model, panel, sound, texture and cfg + air files. As far as I remember, it's there in the demo except the panel, so just copy over the FS9 panel and gauge cab file and it works. The VC isn't quite complete in the demo though - there are gaps in the sides, so don't fall out.......

Because it's only there for demo AI
BTW - if you copy over some other FS9 aircraft - eg the Lear - you'll find they'll magically appear as AI in the demo as well

Hmmm. I think there's more to it than that. I just tried it with the same result. Maybe the fact that there's two versions of the Demo explains it. I installed the updated version only last night (uninstalled the original first) & immediately noticed that some aircraft from the previous version are missing. (Silly fool that I am I forgot to back them up.) I'm pretty certain the original Demo included several AI Only aircraft so maybe the new one is intended as an update. I still have the EXE file for the original version so shall investigate. This might take a while as I shall have to install it all & start again. Stay tuned.

I uninstalled the latest Demo & reinstalled the original. Here's the result as I suspected.
PS. Why this should be is still a mystery to me.

..mm........It definately states that you can test the HANDLING of this a/c in the Demo.......and even if it is AI it should still show if selectable.............commoner

We posted at the same time. I think my experiment proves that this file is intended for the original Demo.* This includes an AI Only version of the B747 which seems to be missing from the latest Demo.
*PS. It also includes a flyable version of the DHC Beaver floatplane.

...that's the point , there isn't one in the Demo that I have...........as Hagar says there is one in the first Demo but not in the latest which I have........probably cos I was reluctant to install SP2. so missed the original demo.
Still doesn't really clear up why it won't work but never mind. Thanks for pointing out there are two Demos...I never knew that....commoner
...But I will say that in the Demo I have I find you can just copy the Aircraft from FS9 and change the panel....they must have made it backwards compatible then eh?................wish I'd known that in the first place...Ah well........live and learn...........and lots to learn
