new Comp to several problems (Read 118 times)

ok got my new rig today, hooked everything up plugged in all those wires etc etc.
install windows..and now ive got windows live messenger not logging in, to get some things to work i have to restart my pc which i never had to do before.

i cnt log into Steam or the BF2142 demo, does anyone have any idea, the only firewall installed is the windows one and ive allowed all necessary things and ports and still no result, any ideas??

Start, Control panel, Windows Firewall, Exceptions, make sure all the apps you want to run are checked! (add them with the add program if not) including ports etc via that, in fact, I never use the windows firewall.... but thats probably your problem! Ever since I've had a router, nearly 2 years now, I've ran Every single port open, and never had a problem (also I make sure all of my apps can run through the firewall in windows) and its good! Give it a shot if you havent already! oh and dont forget, you could have to reformat already!  Sad the joys of computers, I know!

fixed now, turns out some nVidia firewall had attached itself to windows firewall when i installed my chipset drivers... so formatted and its all running fine now
