There are a couple of AVhistory lurkers round here. Be patient and one of them's bound to come a prowling eventually. Wink

Odd.....I recently installed these with no problems, so the files themselves must be ok.

Check that you only have one folder for each aircraft, and not a folder within a folder. Sometimes when you extract a plane from the zip you get a top level 'B17' folder, inside that another 'B17' folder, and within that all the required files. If you have this then drag the second layer folder up to the 'aircraft' folder and delete the empty top level folder.

Compare the faulty folder structure to a working one.....is it the same?

I'll see if I can think of anything else......

Another possibility is that something went wrong with the download and one or more files are corrupted. Have you tried downloading again?

(61_OTU's suggestion is also a good one. That kinda thing used to catch me out all the time.)

Not sure what the problem is from the info provoded.

The few problems reported in the 3,000 or so downloads so far were caused by not having all CFS3 patches installed & a few bad downloads.

Plane needs both CFS3 patches + our version 4 weapons pack. Everything else is included with the plane.  Recheck that you installed the sound options properly especially if you elected to use "Big 4 engine sound"

... well I have down loaded them again, no change .... have downloaded the hurricane and the A26, they show up and are fully functional .... the HG_Shared file is in the aircraft folder .... I have the CFS3_GunWeaponsPak_4[1].0 ..... and after I had reinstalled CFS3 I did both of the MS updates 3.1 and 3.1a .... it has got me stumped ? ..... the files appear correct although the B17's have no weapons or guns folders inside the aircraft folder, like the other 1% aircraft .... is this correct?

Are you sure you're looking for it in the right place in the sim? You don't have so many aircraft that you need to scroll down a bit to find it?

.... I wish it was that simple, I read in the forums about someone who had that problem, but after the clean install I only have the stock US aircraft, plus the A26 in the list accessed under the US Flag, that is where it should be?

Thats where it should be yes. Might be worth looking in the German and British sections just in case.

I might try and download it later to see if I can identify any possible problems. I would do it now but I've got to go out in 10 minutes and I have no idea whether I've installed both patches on my CFS3 yet.

There are no longer guns, weps or pylons in the V-4 aircraft folders.

Tell me what you did with the sound install.

... I tried the sound job to get the 'big four sound' but since I re-downloaded I have done nothing .... it is straight out the box, I have noticed that in version 001 of the B17 the cfg. file lists 'model' with a different name than that of the 'aircraft folder' .... but version 003 is the same as the folder name, neither show up in any list so I do't think its that, could it be a double bad download, or am I missing something real simple? .... I noticed a couple of people with problems in the avhistory forum but no answers in the forum, can I check the version to make sure that the updates have worked, it went all the way through so I am just presuming that they have worked .... on the 'about' cfs3 button it just says version 3.0 Build 021007.2 .... is this correct?

I dont think your patches took.

Version 3.1  Build 0302020.1

Since I have a gold version it might be nice for one of the guys with a production retail build to list their version/build numbers.

Version 3.1 Build 0302030.1

I'm assuming that it's the latest B17 from AVhistory. I'm downloading it now and I'll tell you how I get on.

So I downloaded the aircraft, cut and pasted the file straight into the CFS3 aircraft folder, fired up CFS3 and voila, B17 no problems. I suspect, as Bear points out, your patch didn't patch.

You know, I've had the game installed ever since it was released, so four years now. And yesterday was the first time I clicked the "about" button. Grin

Great!

But let's hope that's not France down there, you're a little low Shocked

Also you may want to have a look at your graphics card settings. See if you can turn on the antialiasing. Also run the cfs3 config utility and increase the AA in the custom settings.

My system isn't as good as yours, but the model shouldn't be so jaggy.

Yup. Now fiddle some more. I've just been fiddling with mine. However, either through my SP2 nightmare or my recent graphics fiddling it won't run any more. Contemplating a reinstall. Tongue
