so i was bored and decided to play the FSX demo a bit more. I also felt like playing in the water so i took the CRJ for a swim, put the gear down and skimmed the water, it also made the wheels spin  Grin  so I decided to take it a step farther.. land. I pulled up my gear, full flaps and slowly put myself into the water,  humm no crash yet, now how slow can i go? I was able to land ON THE WATER untill i reached 18kt where the plane suddenly sank and i was placed at 1000ft again (crash disabled) So i figure with some mild modification we can make water crash landings possible  Grin with FSX aircraft  Grin  would make some interesting flights huh?  Grin Grin

when i first downloaded the demo, I flew flour bomb mission.  i had realism set to about mid, and when the time was up, i was too far away to land at the airport when my engine was cut.  I glided down into the water, and i floated abit.  Then it said mission success.

Also, in really small rivers, when the depth of the river is quite low, u can roll through it, get a splash, but u go down to the depth of the river, and come out.  Is this a clue that water depth has been taken into account???

...&&FS Water Configurator+ has new modifications in the works, plus DirectX 10, Service Pack&&1, and Radeon HD 3+ Series support.

" . . . so i was bored and decided to play the FSX demo a bit more"

The finished, boxed-version of FSX has been out for a week now; no need to continue flying the demo.

FSX Water-landing screenshots Me thinks it's time to move on . . .

I agree with naturenut, you dont crash until your engines hit the water.

do it with a WOP B17.... it floats, also the B29 WOP it floats.... several planes in FS9 float in the water, and most do not....some float until you stop (in fs9 and FSX) then they sink! though crash water landings would be nice.... Let me try this in FSX Retail when I get a chance and see what happens!

Cheers, Gunny

Seems to be available in the UK. Both versions on sale in my local store this morning. Not sure how long they've had it.

lol...ALL planes in FS9 can be made to land and take off water..........even the real biggies! Just a little tweak (or is that tweek?) of the aircraft.cfg file and any plane becomes a floater..........I did a post about this some while ago but it didn't really take off. Not tried it in FSX but I will when I get it..........commoner Grin

Besides the look of the FSX water [which is sweet in my opinion] I think the single most improvement is how the aircraft react to the water. In FS9, you had to apply full throttle just to get aircraft to even budge. That's no longer the case in FSX.

yea FSX water is so much nicer than the FS9 stuff. I decided to try my experiment again with the ultralight and i landed, fully stoped and almost took off again, but i decided instead to see what would happen if i cut the throttle,  needless to say i drowned  Grin

..LOL....if you really must fly the ultralight off water then change the aircraft.cfg. Change the three number ones highlighted to number 4 s...........you will have to slew off the tarmac to get into the air but  can then land and take off water.........looks good too bobbing around on the sea..........

I tried the other planes in the demo but they don't like it and crash on the tarmac.............have fun........... commoner Grin
