I head rumors, I think it would be more truthful to say that Mike left to jam with Sammy as he has been for the last few years, he wants to play music not wait around for Eddie to get out of his slump Wink

I just wish Eddie would get his act together and Van Halen do another album, what would be awesome would be a instrumental album! Don't worry about a singer just the band jamming would be killer!

I know you did not just say that... Tongue  EVERYONE knows Van Halen was at their best with David Lee Roth.  Wink  That's coming from a guy who (literally) has every single thing Van Halen ever put out, from EP's to the bootleg recordings from their Japan concert...

Still, even if it is Van Hagar, I have always thought this one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard.  I listen to it when I need to get motivated

It's the song that made me want to learn guitar. Coming from a drummer, that's saying something. Grin

Never seen the vid for it. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Kevin you have the Gene Simmons produced Van Halen demo? Pre-VanHalen 1 release.

If not highly recommend finding a copy some great stuff, and most I like better than the actual official releases.

Also news is as of Oct 27th, appears rumors are true of a original line up reunion with DLR is being staged for 2007!

I sincerely doubt that.  Eddie Van Halen has burned his bridges with both David Lee Roth AND Sammy Hagar and I doubt that anything will improve any time soon.  That's what you get when you try to play both ends against the middle.

Good point, and with Micheal Anthony kicked out, it will never happen.  Sad

Hear what the demo or the reunion news?

The demo I own, the reunion info came from here, usually spot on with reporting:

http://www.knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=5070

They are also Nominees for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, coincidence?
Of course real rock fans know the Hall of Fame is a joke. Wink Especially since after 30+ years of trend setting Rock and Roll KISS is still denied entry. Roll Eyes

Are you referring to KISS being denied what millions of fans think they deserve?

Last I heard the KISS Army was going to protest, the Hall of Fame supposedly doesn't think that KISS had contributed to the way Rock and Roll music is today. Go figure.

Although such "ground breaking artists " such as Patti Smith and Grandmaster Flash to name a few of the useless have been.

When you really look at it, like KISS or not they changed the way Rock and Roll is, how it is performed on stage down to how to marketing it. There isn't one band today that can say they never were influenced in anyway by them, and chances are not any band that hasn't covered one of their songs Wink

If you were referring to Mike leaving VH some say he was booted but it is more likely he left to play music, which he wasn't doing with VH, so why not go jam with Sammy?

1) Kiss hasn't really made any major contribution to Rock and Roll, the same as Led Zeppelin or Van Halen has. Eddie Van Halen started music by playing the piano, and it shows. He invented 'tapping', and his piano skills transfer to the guitar. Van Halen as a whole, was really one of the first Hair Metal bands that started a huge revolution in the 80's with bands such as Guns N Roses. Get my point?  Roll Eyes

2) It really is a shame that Mikey was kicked out of VH, and Eddie shouldn't have done it. Even it was his own son replacing him.  Sad But Mikey and Sammy playing together is a great thing.  Grin

There is my rant.  Wink

You can't be serious can you?  Grin

Take a look at the history of Rock and Roll. The stage show was invented by KISS, before their fame a live concert was a group of musicians just playing music with a few spotlights and maybe some color thrown in. KISS made the live show a spectacle to behold something of which  each and every band since them has copied and not in Rock music alone but all styles of music.

Look at some video of their early concerts, no one could pull off what they did, here is a recommendation go out and buy the KISSOLOGY DVD just released on Halloween and you will see exactly what I am talking about, watch some of that and you can plainly see any concert within the last 30 years by who ever it is you listen to has KISS all over it Wink Everything from the lights to the pyro it was KISS that started it.

They are a band that does it best live. they changed the way a live show was and is put on and very few can compete with that. And they still remain the best live show you can see to this date. All aspects of a stage show was perfected by KISS. Which by the way they also invented the "live" album which each and every band has recorded at least once.

They have been around for 30+ years, a achievement in itself that few bands can share, they are in the likes of the Rolling Stones ,original , influential and can't be touched by no one else.

Let me name a few bands that would never have been around without KISS's influence and a live show invented by them.

Slipknot
Rob Zombie
Motley Crue
Gwar
Marylin Manson
Van Halen (which didn't start the 80s revolution, they were around in the 70s thanks to KISS Wink )
Guns and Roses
Garth Brooks
Iron Maiden
Nirvana
Dio
Ratt etc.etc.etc.....

They invented marketing in Rock and Roll. Something that is a standard today. and they used that to their advantage. Who was the first to sell souvenirs at a show?
More than maybe a T-shirt?

Its funny highly established music critics in the '70s swore that KISS was a fad, I remember reading Rolling Stone and it being stated that KISS would be only a memory in less than a year,  little did they know it was a fad that changed the face of Rock and Roll as we know it today Wink

Maybe your right they didn't make any major contributions to Rock, they did more they made a contribution to music as a whole, how it is performed on stage to how it is sold they set the standard and very few have been able to meet it Wink

Like I've mentioned before lets meet again in 30 years and see what bands people still talk about that are the current thing now. I know they will be nothing but faded memories where as everyone will still know who KISS is Wink
