1) Kiss hasn't really made any major contribution to Rock and Roll,

You can't be serious can you?  Grin

Take a look at the history of Rock and Roll. The stage show was invented by KISS, before their fame a live concert was a group of musicians just playing music with a few spotlights and maybe some color thrown in. KISS made the live show a spectacle to behold something of which  each and every band since them has copied and not in Rock music alone but all styles of music.

Look at some video of their early concerts, no one could pull off what they did, here is a recommendation go out and buy the KISSOLOGY DVD just released on Halloween and you will see exactly what I am talking about, watch some of that and you can plainly see any concert within the last 30 years by who ever it is you listen to has KISS all over it Wink Everything from the lights to the pyro it was KISS that started it.

They are a band that does it best live. they changed the way a live show was and is put on and very few can compete with that. And they still remain the best live show you can see to this date. All aspects of a stage show was perfected by KISS. Which by the way they also invented the "live" album which each and every band has recorded at least once.

They have been around for 30+ years, a achievement in itself that few bands can share, they are in the likes of the Rolling Stones ,original , influential and can't be touched by no one else.

Let me name a few bands that would never have been around without KISS's influence and a live show invented by them.

Slipknot
Rob Zombie
Motley Crue
Gwar
Marylin Manson
Van Halen (which didn't start the 80s revolution, they were around in the 70s thanks to KISS Wink )
Guns and Roses
Garth Brooks
Iron Maiden
Nirvana
Dio
Ratt etc.etc.etc.....

They invented marketing in Rock and Roll. Something that is a standard today. and they used that to their advantage. Who was the first to sell souvenirs at a show?
More than maybe a T-shirt?

Its funny highly established music critics in the '70s swore that KISS was a fad, I remember reading Rolling Stone and it being stated that KISS would be only a memory in less than a year,  little did they know it was a fad that changed the face of Rock and Roll as we know it today Wink

Maybe your right they didn't make any major contributions to Rock, they did more they made a contribution to music as a whole, how it is performed on stage to how it is sold they set the standard and very few have been able to meet it Wink

Like I've mentioned before lets meet again in 30 years and see what bands people still talk about that are the current thing now. I know they will be nothing but faded memories where as everyone will still know who KISS is Wink
