Hi all.
(Not just an "attaboy".....please read to the end  Wink )

For those of you who might not know... I feel that  Matthias Lieberecht of "The BAe Panel Project" makes the absolute BEST freeware panels for the BAe 146-200 (and the ARJ version) there are, barr none.  His existing version 3.0 panel for the BAe 146 has just about all of the existing aircraft systems accurately modeled......  at sort of the caliber of the PMDG versions of the 747.  You want "real".... he's got real.

This is an ASTOUNDING amount of development work for a FREEWARE panel..... and I think he is to be applauded for this incredible and selffless efforts on behalf of the simulation community.

Now..... one problem with most aircraft for simpit builders is that typically the fs200x sim does not "model" the very specific systems that an individual aircraft has very well... or at all.  So getting easy simpit access to certain real aircraft control functions (like APU, hydraulics, electrical, fuel management, etc.) are often problematic....... or even impossible.

Worse..... when a developer models the systems "outside the sim" you are left with a nice virtual set of panels...... but you can't interface the simpit controls to them very easily; you are stuck with clicking a mouse on the screens.  VERY frustrating!  Tongue

I have been talking to Matthias about this problem for a while.... and it LOOKS like he might well be implementing a solution in his upcoming BAe panels.   The eventual goal is to have all of the gauges on the aircraft accessable via either a keypress assignment or a joystick button assignment.  If he pulls this concept off..... this will open up a whole new world of realsim for the BAe 146-200 for simpit use.

The thread below is part of the recent conversation I've been having on this with him:

If you have an interest in this concept, drop him a note at "The BAe Panel Project" forum and let him know your thoughts.

best,

.......................john

More recently posted news on the upcoming new version 4.0 BAe 146 panel is on the BAE Panel Project website.  Check out the new features and screenshots and the mentions of the hardware control links.

Not to mention stuff like working brake fans and working fire suppression systems that affect the other systems!  Sounds great to me.
