If you wish to take part, please let us know by saying in this thread.

An initial selected time/date for the show is Saturday 14th October at 1700 UK Local time, most probably on the SimV Server. NOTE: This Is Not Final!!

Watch the MP Forums - more details coming soon!!

UPDATE #2:
Sorry for the lack of organisation here, but at last we have decided on a date for the Airshow - November 18th, at 1700 UK Local time!

I most likely wont be installing FS9 on my computer (driving me nuts right now) as im just going to be useing FSX. and scince nobody knows the compatibillity of the two I may not be there but if they do work together i would glad to be part. Just need to figure out what i'll fly.  Grin

I'm certainly not installing FSX yet!

I suppose I should join one of these things sooner or later.  Put me down for a s-l-o-w circuit in a pioneer biplane, probably the 1910 Kruse Curtiss.

From unofficial reports, I have heard FS9 and FSX will not be compatible in multiplayer mode. I do not know how true that is.. but I hope not.

Anybody care to tell me what 1700 UK time is in US Central Time? Embarrassed Roll Eyes Wink

US Central time is GMT -6 hours, I think that puts you behind us.  So 1700 GMT is 1100 Central time, same day.

Sounds Good Charlie.. Always good to know there is an "Official" airshow going along, and it attracts more people. Alot like the Tours which go ahead, its always best to get the official side, then more people will rely on the information.

Nicely planned aswell. Best of Luck!

Cheers SimV airshow Organisers!

Damn!!! I'm going to St Albans on the 14th  Sad

If you could change it it would be good Smiley

Also 17:00 is a little early......I would suggest having it at 18:00

Another suggestion.....perhaps limiting each person to 1 or 2 displays plus any multi aircraft thing they want to do.

Just some Ideas Smiley

.Mic

PS. If you do change it Ill come along in the DSB Typhoon.

And I'm sure the BBMF will happily trundle along....need a bit more practice though.

It's worked the past 3 times!

Remember we have people ahead of UK time (which is BST right now), though I'm not sure how many we'll have from the Scandinavias and further towards Eastern Europe.

we are thinking of pushing the airshow date further forward, so you don't get "bogged down" with airshows. What do you guys think?

I dont think you should but it depends when you want to have it. I can't make it this coming Friday until Monday so i hope you wern't hoping to bring it forward to then.
The date you've already got is perfect for me!

PS. You did mean you want to bring the date forward right?! I dont mind if its pushed back cause i think im free most weekends after this.

I mean, it gives me some time to get the profile I want to fly for my demo the way I want to be able to show, and then I can be at home with my nice cable/dsl whereas here at school and in a dormatory, I have port problems, and might block others or they might block me. I know you all want to see the Raptor  Wink Wink Wink Wink

After Christmas is a very long way off and I think folk will just forget about it. Besides Christmas is a very busy time for some people, myself included. I have no problem with you putting it back a few weeks or so however. Work is my biggest problem and I know I'm home on the 14th.

Well surely those who'll be getting FSX right away can hold off uninstalling FS9 for just a few weeks, in case of multiplayer problems.

There doesn't seem to be many people available on the 14th, really, so it's best to find a time that suits everyone.

Problem is, if only 5 people can make it to the show, you've only got 4 people to display to, and only a few acts to perform, so it's better to get a lot of people on, so you've got a nice big crowd!

I will (should be anyway) getting FSX when it comes out but I will not be removing FS9, too much stuff installed in it to just chuck it out. I still have all my sims (FS2K2, FS9, CFS2 twice and CFS3) installed. I would hope the airshow will be in FS9 as all my best add-ons, including all my best Warbirds, are for FS9 and not many work very well in the FSX demo.
Mid November should be OK for me but I will have to confirm closer to the date because of work.

Well, to say I am excited for this show is an understatement.  I have been practicing this routine in the F-22 for about 3 months now, and I hope that you will all enjoy it.  Might I make the suggestion of Edwards AFB as our show site?  Nothing but desert there and so it will not be hard on the frames whereas if you get a high-detailed area, add the gliders on the side, it can get a bit laggy!

I've already asked for the 18th of November off, so please don't change the date again.

Edwards has always been a possibility, but it is fairly high up (in terms of sea level), and smaller prop aircraft may have trouble flying to their full ability.

We will find somewhere fairly barren, though!

As for the date, if you've actually booked the day off, it would be very unfair to change it, so I'll say it's final. Smiley

How many displays can we do each??
There are three aircraft i had in mind but obviously i could cut them down if you want.
I definatly want to fly the V22 Osprey and the Hawker Hunter but i'd also like to fly either the new Wessex from simshed or the UKMIL Merlin.

P.S: i'd also like to video the event.

I may actually be able to get in on this one, because the new machine should be up and running by then...
Are there any rules? Will there be a list of what aircraft will be displaying? Are there plans for group displays (formation ero, heritage flybys, etc)?

And what about the FS9/FSX issue...?

Seen a couple of confused and/or confusing messages here regarduing UK time  vs US Eastern time...
For the record:

GMT, or Zulu time, or UTC, is either FIVE hours ahead or FOUR hours ahead of Eastern US time, depending on the time of year.

Right now, if I'm not mistaken, the eastern US is five hours behind the UK, because we are on Eastern US summer time which is only four hours behind GMT, but the UK is an hour ahead of GMT for their summer time.

We Americans and folks in the UK will set our clocks BACK one hour on  10/29; so 1700 UK  time  (which  will equal 1700 GMT)  on 11/18 will be, in the Eastern US (sound of rusty gears clashing)....

1200, also known as "noon",. Grin

Probably a limit of 2 displays each, as it would get out of hand if everyone wanted to fly more.

And Rottydaddy, take a look at these previous threads to see how it was organised. Wink

so, noon Nov. 18th (Eastern US time). I might appear...most likely a low-level flyby in a B2...or F117...I'll let you know when I've decided.

Ok, I've decided- B2 low-level flyover. Later in the show, if it's OK, I'll bring out the Eurofighter Typhoon. This is on the SimV server, right?

Steady on people, remember each spectator needs to download everything being flown that day!  Let's figure out how many slots are available, and how many people are prepared to fly, before we allocate multiple displays.

I'll stick to my original post - one display only, in a 1910 Curtiss biplane.

If need be, we'll cut down the number of displays (although we haven't needed to yet). That would mean limiting people to one display each, if need be.

Sorry Im late, but Im thinking I might do some bomber flybys.  Ill come up with a list (3 or 4 bombers prolly) later, and just start from a nearby airport and do a flyby at various points.

Right now it will probably be a B-1, B-2, B-52, and maybe some others (possibly also like an F-117)

It would be convenient to keep the amount of aircraft down, so there isn't too much downloading to be done. It can get a little tedious. Wink

Yeah, I realized that...Ill pick one (or two if I find real small files).  Maybe some Mike Stone planes, his files are all less than a megabyte

EDIT:  Ya, thats what Ill do...

B-52 : 1424K
F-111 : 2134K
F-117 : 1199K

So 3 planes, total of about 5 megabytes or so...
