I know this question has been asked before... But does anybody know if payware will be compatible with FSX? I have spent to much on payware to not be able to use it Tongue

I'm pretty confident that the payware companies would make patches to update the current payware addons.

I think however that it might be an assumption that they will not possibly charge for the "updates" for FSX.

FSX is a "new version" of the sim.  Asd such it may be a reason to make the assertion that an "upgrade" to the exisiting packages is a bit "more" than a "patch" to the existing sim version.

This would not surprise me..... it happend with some stuff between fs2002 and fs2004.  I already know that the new version of FSUIPC will be a "new purchase" for FSX.

It seems that way Katahu.... look at FS force, buy it now, get a partial discount for it on FSX...... And MS got into trouble for 'Monopolizing' but is it Microsofts fault they have a good product? , and sorry for getting off topic... back on that note, Yes addons will be compatible, but you will be charged $ for the updates I bet, Cheers, Gunny

To put it in perspective - FS-X is not so much an "update" (in the sense that a bug-fix patch), but a re-engineered prodcut keeping the basics of the previous version, for reverse compatibility.

I would not expect payware companies to merely patch their products for FS-X (so all you get is an FS-9 model with dds textures, for example, and call it "new".

There are payware companies that are actively re-engineering their products to really take advantage of FS-X's new capabilites, and not merely provide a warmed over FS-9 model.

Almost as much effort is going into re-engineering a model for FS-X as went to create an FS9 model, so I would expect an FS-X model is a new purchase.

Which is why I decided to make two versions of my Hummer project. One for FS9 and another for FSX.
