Has anyone had any history with a 84-88 300zx, like to know about some opinions on this make and specified years. Generally problems or set backs of this car.(non and turbo) Grin

The Datsun / Nissan  "Z Car" has a pretty interesting history. From the 1970, 240Z... To today's 350Z.

The 84-88 variety has been affectionately called, "3rd Generation". As a driver's car.. it has lotsa potential. Unfortunately, Nissan didn't see it that way and let the once proud sports car, devolve into what some called, "A doctor's wife's car". It was under-powered and had a suspension set-up more favoring a nice drive in the country; instead of a spirited romp down a curvy road.

The good news is...  that that car can be bought for next to nothing.. and if you know what you're doing, it can be made into a VERY serious sports car. The suspension and drive-train are ideal.. and lend themselves well to aftermarket modifications.

As for turbo.. STAY AWAY from the factory version... Or at least be prepared to redo all of it.

If what you're looking for is an over-the-counter sports coupe... There are far better choices. If you're ready to roll up your sleaves and dump a little money into it.. It just might be your best choice.

Looking for a cheap project car, im a fan of the specific 300zx 84-88 years'. I can also settle for a RX7 but im not trust about the motor and hear there not reliable, because it has a history of blowing the rear seal etc.
Anything JDM lol. Grin

Well then.. For a project car, it's a great candidate. The motors are plenty durable and reliable and don't take much coaxing to give up plenty of horse-power..
