Get the update again...9 months ago means that the flightplan you are running is the Fall/Winter 200 package...Also, UT does populate your skies with AI, but only at big airports...When I had UT installed, Europe and North America were densely populated, but move away to Russia and there was nothing there...so I just learned how to make my own traffic files...much better than using UT even thought it probably takes alot more effort
