I have been putting exhaust trails on many of my aircraft.

If any of you have done the same, perhaps you could answer a question or two.

Most of the people who provide text for copying to the .DP file say to delete the .CDP file after copying the text to the .DP file since another one will be created.

I would have thought that once the .CDP file is deleted, every time you access the aircraft,  the exhaust trails would be there.

However, I've noticed that you have to delete the .CDP file every time before you fly the aircraft or the exhaust trails will not appear.

Has anyone experienced  this,  or am I doing something wrong?

It's normal. The .CDP file has to be deleted any time the .DP is modified. This is necessary for the new changes to take effect. It's the same in CFS-1.

Mushroom_Farmer,

Thanks for the reply.

I realize that the .CDP has to be deleted after  the .DP is modified.

What about the times that you fly when you have not modified the .DP?

I seem to have to delete the .CDP whenever I fly, even if no modification was  made to the .DP, otherwise I get no exhaust trails.

Is that normal or have I done something wrong?

Once changed, the sim should not have to have the file deleted and remade. Are you placing the modified file in the correct folder? Look in the .DP file to make sure the changes are in there.

I have discovered that if I take off in the "spot plane view" instead of the "cockpit view", the exhaust trails seem to work on all aircraft so fitted.

This way there is no need for me to keep deleting the .CDP with each flight.

Every now and then I can get exhaust trails taking off in the "cockpit view, but not consistently.

I don't know why this is happening, but I can certainly live with it.

Thanks for your responses.
