Johnnie Johnson - 'Winged Victory' 1995 - Ch5 P48.

"I loathed these Rhubarbs with a deep, dark hatred. Apart from the flak, the hazards of making a let-down over unknown territory and with no accurate knowledge of the cloud base seemed too great a risk for the damage we inflicted. During the following three summers, hundreds of pilots were lost on either small or mass Rhubarb operations"

Nice shots Mark

A rhubarb was the name for a low-level beat-up of targets of opportunity. They were normally put on when the weather was tooooooooo bad (I mean really sh*tty) for normal ops and some pilots were getting a little anxious. Hence the wee bombs on my wings Wink
