Hi all,
Whenever I click the fs2002 professional icon to begin the game, the application begins as usual, with the splash screen of the 747 and an airport in the background. However, before it should click onto the select a flight screen it crashes back to the desktop with the message:
Microsoft Flight Simulator Module has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Any ideas what I can do to correct it, as all of my other games, cfs, call of duty etc work fine ???

Thanks in Advance

Don't know, but there might be others that do.  They should have further info:

> Has this been happening all along, or just recently? That is, did FS02 at one time behave OK?  (If recent, a re-install might work, but it's a last resort, wait for other replies first.)

> Did this start occuring after a certain download?  You might try temporarily clearing out all aircraft except for the stock planes.

> Post your system specs.

> If insufficient replies here, try posting this in another forum, either FS2004 (be sure to mention that it's a FS2002 problem), or maybe the hardware or software forum.

Good luck.

Hi,
This has only just started happening. FS2002 used to be the only game on my pc that had a 100% 'good behaviour' record. I have tried deleting all of the downloaded aircraft, leaving just the stock aircraft. When this failed I reinstalled the game.
My system specs: (unfortunately these specs mean nothing to me as i'm a but useless with technical terms Embarrassed,
2.4GHz intel pentium 4
256MB DDR SDRAM 333MHz
80GB Ultra DMA Hardrive.
The pc is XP and about 3 1/2 years old.

Thanks,

If FS02 used to be OK, and you've re-installed, then it should be OK again.  If not, logically the problem lies elsewhere in your computer, in which case once again I don't know.

However, there is one more item to consider.  When doing a re-install, the procedure is:

1) Properly uninstall the program (use the uninstall feature found in the Start Menu or in the Control Panel which is accessible throught the Start Menu).

2) Manually delete any remaining FS02 folders after backing up add-ons, etc.  The uninstall routine does not do this for you.

3) Install again.

4) Test the program without add-ons.  Test it repeatedly. If the problem persists, try restarting the computer.

If you did not do step #2 above, you might consider another re-install, assuming, of course, that the problem is persisting.
