HI! Well, I passed the drivers ED test....
28/30
man, I am good, i passed my BOATING test with a 95/100
what will my flying test will be? lol
anyways....
I might be geting a car like when I turn 16 ( may 21st ) but I like to plan ahead....
I am thinking of either a Honda Prelude, or Honda Civic ( Coupe )
The purpose of those cars for me is that they are small and they look good with lambo doors. But I'd like to recieve advice from other people, so, what do you all recomend?

Honda's are a good choice. They'll never break down and will be very economic on fuel. If you do go for one get a fairly recent model as I believe that Honda have had not a single failiure with their new engine.

One that does more than 30mpg is good for starters...
Can't go wrong with Honda. Solid engineering, particularly if you get one with a VTEC engine (Ever wondered why Ford use ZETEC? - the Honda's VTEC predates it by about 2 years).

get an older mx-5 miata. . .they are pretty cheap now (as low as $3000). . .rwd, something you will never regret.
there is also a HUGE aftermarket for them (everything from cold-air intakes to LS1 V8 engine swaps)
if you are ever interested in possibly weekend racing or any form of performance driving, the miata is the car for you.

I think AVP is after something sensible....
...with a sensible Insurance Premium...
..and sensible running costs...!
A sports/racing open MX-5 Miata car hardly fits that bill...
...!
Before bying any motor car, enquire the Insurance Premium for it FIRST....!
..as a young driver, you may be refused Insurance cover...
...!
The Honda is good...

Insurance on a pre 2000 miata is not that bad at all on this side of the pond. . .especially considering that most pre2000 miata's don't cost more than $10,000.

The one problem with the MX-5. It's a girls car. The sort of car a hairdressers secretary would own. (Obviously the hairdresser would own a Z3.)

Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra....
Can't go wrong with any of those. And, since you're probably going to buy something used with plenty of miles already on it.. those cars make even more sense.
The Miata is too small. You won't be able to take your friends anywhere, when it's your turn to drive. It's even a bit impractical for just TWO people to travel in, with luggage. AND.. a Miata with any kind of mileage on it is going to become a financial head-ache. They don't age well. Probably partly because of the way a person woud drive a Miata (enthusiastically
)
Insurance on an older, used car for a 16 year-old has little to do with what the car is worth. Insurance companies take into consideration how a car will probably be driven. Sporty cars + 16 year-olds = $$$
Now the little secret.. If you're looking for performance on a budget.. try and find an old Nissan Sentra SER (they called it a 200SX for a few model years (higher insurance, same car). If I remember right.. It had a 150hp 2.0L engine and was pretty darn quick !

well, I better make research into those... Yeah, I am not a miata fan, it is too small.... and girly ( no offence )
I like the Sentra, it is a good looking 4 door car, it looks good with a custom grille.
The Civic ( Coupe ) is really good looking, it has good maintenance costs, and it is safe, also, lambo doors and some 17's or 18's make it look.... there isnt a word for that....
The Toyota Corola.... are you talking about the old one? the one that is in Initial D??? Or NeedforSpeedUnderground 2? if it is... It isnt one of my favorites, i dont know why, too square

How old a used car/motorcycle is has a lot to do with your insurance quote. Compare an old 924 with a new Nissan or Acura econo car. . .the new car will cost more. Auto insurance generally covers 3 things: the driver, the car ($$), and a 3rd party incase of an accident. Although they will be looking to see if it is a sports car, when it comes down to it they are looking to see how much your car costs and the likelihood of theft.
Basically, if you think you will ever have a serious intrest in cars or any sort of performance driving you want to try to find a rwd as your first car. There are many cheap used ones on the market (miata being a fairly common and cheap one here in the US). For well under $10,000 there are also old 84-87's corrolla's, 240sx/180sx, 1st and 2nd gen rx-7's (3rd gen are extremly expensive), porsche 924, old volvo's, and any number of used domestic cars (mustang, camero, etc.)

I never personally owned one, but have lots of seat time behind one, so it is no offence to me.
But. . .the best response I have ever heard to someone who thought it was a girls car: "drive one and then tell me its a girls car".
I also love the two arguments I see on here. One group says that it is not the right car because 16 year olds shouldn't be driving an "expensive" "gas guzzling" "sports car". The other group is calling the "sports car" a "chick car".

As soon as a car has a "sport car" label insurance goes up. If you don't believe me, get a quote on a Ford Mustang LS model and then get a qoute on a Mustang GT or Cobra. Then factor in age and rates rise even more.

This could be a good thing as it would eliminate the distraction that friends cause while driving. This is a major cause of accidents among teens.
I would go for a Honda Civic, or a Toyata Prius or Echo. Small cars, great mileage.
