I typically fly a Cessna 172 out of a small Connecticut airport (Koxc). How do I know that I have the best scenery for that airport, or for that matter, the best scenery for Connecticut?

Cessna156,

Do some searching in the SimV libraries for "CT" or "Connecticut" or the airport ICAO identifiers.  Als for the names of major cities like "Hartford".  Then also do it in Google with the added term "fs2004" or "fs9".

A little electronic sleuth work will go a long way to helping you find the best stuff...... if there is any.

best,

John - Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them out and give you an update.

For the CT responders: KOXC is the airport id for Waterbury - Oxford located in Oxford. Small airport, has a three year old tower  with one landing strip 36 / 18. I have 9.6 hours in a Cessna there.

B 17 and B 25. I was there about 5:30 on Thursday for a lesson and watched them both take off. The B 17 sounded very rough. They take passengers (at $400 a clip) for a 30 minute ride, but the vibrations in the 17 must have been terrible. In contrast, the B 25 sounded very smooth. They come about once a year.

I have some of the Megascenery stuff.  Tried it... and really was not impressed.

For me the problem with that "photoreal" stuff is that there is WAY too little 3 dimensional stuff on the ground.  If you are a "flying cigar jockey" and stay up high.... it looks awesome.  But get down low.... and the landscape is kinda barren...... not to mention fuzzy looking.

I mainly fly a regional jet..... and even with that on approches and take offs ... the landscape doesn't look all that great.

Get abovce about 5000 however..... and you swear it was real.

One man's opinion....your mileage may vary.  Wink

best,
