Actually, Alex is right here...

...the unit of measurment doesn't get tagged on until exported, so change the unit to what ever you were building in and it should export in the right size. Wink

The correct method of unit conversion would be to merge your scene into a new one which is set to meters.
That presumes that your original feet scene was allready correct in size.
Just remember that there are two places in Gmax to set units:

1. Customize menu - units setup.
This one is only for display while playing in Gmax.

2. Customzte menu - preferences - General - System unit scale
This is the important one that actually defines your units.

Thats is correct Mathias.. Wink,Falcon500 follow this instructios where to set this,..also Ive seen that most of the time(maybe because Im lucky  Grin) sometimes it set by it self ,I mean after the gMax Instalation It show after add the Game pack as A metter unit by itself,Must of the times, but rarely occation it shown as Feets or inch

Falcon 500 Its soo simple I didn't have instaled gMax , I made in no more than 5 min(instalation and this thing) something like an aircraft ,Just to show you ,not to complicate your self..,its easy,.. as I explained to you before,... here as example I made 2 size of this object compare the size (much close to real measure than your plane)One big & one small..(this is not a real model just something quick to show you) Grin

...

A big size Like antonov 225

...

and like one of those planes for toys Compare with the number of the runway

...

I did it in a a couple minutes, see that Im right! If you start doing things by the hardest way Youll never finish it ,..See when I told you ((I wanna help you)) I got experience in this,But still even with 3 sussefully planes all over the web (those who has copilots) I still learning ,But I learn from real & simple persons ,people from here like >Milton Shupe, and at freeflight design Shop, with a friendly and very Didactical people WHO really knows about this,Im able to help so as anyone but as a team not as a competition of "who knows more" we just see here Jeff and Mathias COLABORATING as a comunity without complications and me,to help you make your design
remenber this

Quote:
Select all\ right click of the mouse\scale move the mouse until this planes covers in Meters ( set units in meters) about two or 3 quares(grids) of gMax the smallest ones, that's about the size,..Export it put in the runway & calculate the size little bigger little smaller ,export the mdl as many posible until you reach the right size & position above the floor

,and anything just ask ,..Like Im still doing as a learner , and share with this comunity what Ive learn until now,.. specialy to SimV comunity

I hope this helps

Alex

im getting tired of this, i got the plane down to about 1000ft thats after setting it to centimeter, then millimeters after having it at meters,

then while in millimeter mode i had to skrink the model to 1/4 the size, that's how i got it to the 1000ft mark

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....&&&&&&&&&&                        The GMax effect... The GMax effect

meters no one said or mention millimeters set it in metters as Mathias said above, and then select with the mouse(with the left click push it ) the entire plane and set  right, after selected click on the plane selected Not move,Not rotate,Not manipulate,Scale, scale scale, scale ,scale,,.. Roll Eyesreduce the entire plane size you can see it!after  scale selected and the entire plane is selected, you put the mouse in the middle of the plane (left click and move the mouse)until it fits in two gMax grids....Don't do anything else Not millimeters Not centimeters,Meters , Meters unit mesures set up =
Meters!
for Christ Sake and be patient ,calm down you begining to put me nervious too...

Hey Falcon. I'm not going to get involved in the maylay. Grin I certainly do'nt want to see the super bomber come out either. You could try this.
1.Open Gmax

2.Go to customize then Units Set Up and change to Feet w/Decimal inches.

3.Go to preferences and change System Unit Scale to meters then check automatic conversion. This may not fix your total scale problem but it will set it up for US to Metric conversion. This way you can model in Feet and inches. If I remember correctly you are from the UP of Michigan and I'm assuming that you would prefer to model in Feet and inches.

4.Now with your units set up open your model and when prompted choose Adopt System Scale this will put you on Feet with decimal inches

5.Next you could use a combination of both suggestions and make a couple of boxes one for length and one for wing span then scale the model down or up. By the way boxes are the way that I measure all my Aircraft CFG inputs because if you do'nt convert it and just leave it a box you can change the height. This way all your measurments are from the flight sim refpoint and are extremely acurate. You just select and rotate the box and move it to where ever you want. (See JPG) Notice the length of the selected box I25 feet 4inches point 07

6.Heres another tip. The flight sim reference point is where your parts start out when you push the create button 0.0X/0.0Y/0.0Z this is the point refered to in the Aircraft CFG. The blue box is at this point (see JPG1) Notice the gizmo is at the height of the grid or 0.0Z this is where you can rotate around and meausure positive forward and negative aft for you CFG entry. You can also move the boxes on any desired plane and the heights stay accurate. The green and purple box are still at the 0.0Y and 0.0X axis(JPG2) and can be used to measure the lateral lengths. You could also use the tape but this is less accurate because of perspective.

Hope some of this helps Greg.
