I am thinking of buying a payware spitfire, and I was wondering what the best one is.
Thanks,
Jake.

Oh boy....You are gonna open up a can worms on this...HEHEHE
Jake I just got the Realair Spit.....That thing is bloody awesome! And now you have the other one...Plane Design!
I wish you luck in your choice...It's gonna be tough!

I've got all the Spits and I'd say the RealAir is the best but the Plane Design is right behind it!
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

...and now I'll disagree with Mark, and put the Plane Design XVI ahead of the Real Air XIV...
Why. Well VC wise, I think the RAS Spit is just a nose in front - and has the real view module too.
Externally they are about equal - the textures (particularly some of the forthcoming natural metal ones) on the PD Spit are some of the best I've ever seen, just a little better than the RAS... PD has the beautiful prop animation too.
Flying wise, RAS had a couple of gimmicks - the real view module "simulated" buffet for example. Here I think the PD Spit wins though. An awful lot of work has gone into getting the flight dynamics as real as possible, using one of the most experienced (current) Spitfire pilots around today. It's nice to actually have to think about flying the thing well...

RealAir Spit, no doubt, and i think the Plane Design one is well modeled, but i think that version of the spit is plain ugly
(sorry Mark)
so go for RAS Spit

Tis okay Mees I think the bubble canopy ruins the Spit (I know it meant better vision but it is still butt ugly!)...
I was thinking about it and the PD one runs better on my PC than the RAS. Sometimes the RAS can take a second or two to sort itself out if I switch to VC say!
Personally I think both are totally sexy and as my signature says there are 2 kinds of plane

Hmmm....at this point I'm kind of in love with the Wings of Power Spitfire...
...Realair one is perrty nice too...
...and Plane Design in 3rd, the exterior model is very nice, but the VC textures need some serious work

Pity the WoP one has several "mistakes" in it

Lots of models, but is no where near the individual quility of the PD, RAS and WoP Spit, in that order.
One or two of the models needed a little tweaking... The rest are quite nice though. Textures not as nice as the three above...

So far, I have only noticed 2, the landing gear pins stick up when the gears are up, and the blends, or rather lack of them, on the leading edge of the elevator...
They're both really really minor though, I don't think anyone would notice them unless they look very very closely...

Jeff you REALLY don't know your Spits
The AH package has a lot of models done badly IMHO. There are a wealth of mistakes (the legendary G-AIDN labelled a Tr.9/Type 509 being the one that gets on my tits the worst). It was a REALLY disappointing package after the incredible work that was their freeware Seafire

Jake mentioned the AH one which is why my second paragraph was about that after my comment about your knowledge of Supermarines finest
