Hi, Would someone know the answer to my problem:

My windows xp was working fine until today, I bought and installed "Windows registry repair pro" run the scan and clean functions all as per default. Then I booted the PC and windows tells me this: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system. I have booted from my windows xp CD and attempted to select the R for repair option. Its asking me for the administrator PW and when I enter it tells me its invalid, no go. Would someone know what my options are?

If I re-install windows into the same partiton C:\windows, am I loosing everything????

Sorry for the long message, but its rather difficult.

Thanks, I managed to get back into windows, however my apps are no longer working. Will have to re-install.
