this one is based on a VF-84 low vis scheme from the early 90's and late 80's
...
for another pic see my september contest entry
more pics to come.
I need help with some parts though. if someone could find a shot of this aircrafts lower tail fin that would be appriciated, currently I have none of that area.
I may also do one with the VF-103 low vis tail art later. (no fin flash and a white and black skull and cross bones rather than a dark grey)

alright here are a few shots of the low vis VF-103 I am working on:
...  ...

most of the details are the same as the VF-84 low vis, except for the tail and the modex.

Jolly Roger buffs might recognise the names of the pilots

I thought Ghostriders and Jolly Rogers were different squadrons, don't the Ghostriders have A/E on it?

i enjoy long walks on the beach, yummie thai food, and obliterating my enemy's aircraft around them with a hail of bullets from 12 .50s. and/or a 75mm cannon.

that's nice, although you have a little too much contrast on your markings, see how mine are more gray.  I didn't notice that two tone in my pictures, but I will try to modify mine to be more like yours for my little project that I am working on.

ok so I did some research, they have used both at one time or another, also, they used a solid gray scheme, with neither the gray on gray fuselage, nor the dark gray tail, so I will redo this with a tail that is not darker than the fuselage, as well as one with a darkened top fuselage.

BTW this is all for a little project I am working on that will include many different Jolly Rogers liveries for both the F-14 and F/A-18F, if possible I may also include a corsair.

I just have to find a good F4U-1A for FS9/X, I don't want to include any payware repaints so aeroplane heaven is out of the question.

imho i always found that the converted CFS2 sair worked wonderfully. although, i never did actually do any active searching for another F4U-1A. Flight characteristics were pretty good, full moving parts, working tailhook, guns...
