Here is a link to a cool HijackThis! log analyzer:

http://hjt.networktechs.com/

and a link to HijackThis! :

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

Other software on the page may be of some use to you as well.

HijackThis! is a browser hijack detector that will show up a few processes/configs other software may have left you ignorant of.

This is a great program for semi-techies like myself who want to quickly get a slow system back up to speed.

Use it with caution, some processes may be required by your system.

I'm sorry, I don't get popups so I wasn't aware of them.

The only thing remarkable about the analyzer is that it can help those without much experience shut down unsafe/superfluous processes, it's not meant to be an advanced aid.

Nevermind it doesn't anymore. I don't know what was going on there. I could have sworn I saw popups that Firefox blocked.

I recently found a ssl.dll in IE that was causing popups. I missed it at first. Hijackthis is a great tool, but you definately need some computer knowledge to spot problems.

It isn't like Ad-Aware which everyone can use. Ad-Aware missed that dll BTW.

However, what people can do is post their Hijackthis log on a forum, and get others to help.

To be honest, I delete almost every line in the Hijackthis scan, I leave my firewall, my explorer home page (blank) and my nameserver IP settings for my internet.

I have no doubts that this could screw with some software, but if it wants to auto-run in the background, the software can get screwed as far as I'm concerned  Wink
