Hello Chaps!

Ive tried a new method of planning the flight this week. Ive tried this to see how it would turn out and what you think of it. I also thought if i used this, it would eliminate spelling mistakes.

Cheers  Chaps!

Cheers Chaps.

It wasn't a case of me being lazy and not writing the Tour information, it was primarily done to eliminate any errors i could make.

Thanks, and welcome to the new flight planning for our tours.

A very good flight, spoilt somewhat by some pilots flying third-party War-birds and fast Military Jets performing aerobatic maneuvers more suitable for the Sim V air races and air shows than a gentle General Aviation Tour and appreciation of the local scenery.... Cry...!

Note Jimbo's recommendation:
*************
AIRCRAFT TO USE

It is advised that you use default aircraft as other fliers can see you better, and you wont be replaced by something different within flight simulator. We always mostly fly fast GA Aircraft.
********************
Note, GENERAL AVIATION AIRCRAFT!
Not a single default Cessna, Beech, or Piper piston prop in sight....Cry...!

It will be very disappointing if the forthcoming Australia Tour turns into a frantic race using Tornado's, F-22's, etc, military jets rather than a sensible flight planned tour with default GA piston prop Cessna 172's/182's, Beech Twins, Pipers, etc...Cry...!

Let's keep Jimbo's Sim V "Tours" separate from the Sim V "Airshows", "Air races", etc, and fly aircraft more suitable for each of them, otherwise the object of them will be lost...Wink...!

Looking forward to the next "Jimbo Tour" with default GA Piston props again....Smiley...!

Cheers Lads...Grin...!

Remember, we have been flying the General Aviation, piston prop "TOURS" for a long time now, starting with Nemo's tour of Great Britain, followed by Jimbo's various tours.
The rules of the tours were set out in those early days, and are gradually getting forgotten by new pilots more familiar to flying fast jets.
It is constantly pointed out that ONLY the default aircraft are suitable for the Multiplayer General Aviation tours....using touring aircraft!....Wink...!
The original object of flight planned and navigated tours is getting lost...and it becomes a free-for-all, aerobatic, air race using 3rd party aircraft instead... Shocked...!

I doubt very much if I would be welcome, and taken seriously, competing in a Sim V "Air Race" flying my Cosmos Flexwing....horses for courses...  Shocked...!

Cheers...!

May I also point out that the Extra 300s is a default aircraft and is GA.

And by the look of it you werent flying a default aircraft last night....i saw you as an extra 300.

Also, the fact of the matter is that the server is a public one, and no-one can stop people from flying what they want. By flying my extra 300s i didnt intend to annoy you paul, I just wanted to do some manual flying in something a little different.
So sorry if I did annoy anyone, but it wasnt intentional.

Anyway, next week itll be back to normal.

.mic

PS. Paul, you are welcome to attend the SimV race in your flexiwing and may actually win, depending on how easy it is to fly a 1929 floatplane.

That's because other fliers are using non default aircraft.
My aircraft was the Microsoft default Beech Baron 58, which some of the other fliers observed....Wink...!

I get fed-up with constantly beating the drum regarding the use of default and non-default aircraft in Multiplayer flights.
It may be boring to use default aircraft, but they are the only aircraft which appear correctly to all the other fliers....
...it's the way Uncle Bill designed the program... Wink...!

Even using a default aircraft with a non-default texture will occasionally cause the aircraft to appear as the wrong type unless all other fliers have the same texture installed in the aircraft file...!

..and, as you correctly point out, the Server is public one and open to all, but in each of the various organised events there are certain rules which are laid down by the organisers of the events, and any personal deviation causes confusion.... Wink...!

WS Pilots Multiplayer fliers frown upon it....

But if it was the default beech baron which i have installed, surely I would be able to see it as I was flying the default extra 300s.

I know everything about the problems of "uncle bills" multiplayer set up. but I'm still wandering how this could have happened.

Anyhow, enough petty arguing, see you next week.

OKIE DOKIE Chaps.

Keep it to a minimum please.

I RECCOMEND to fly GA because it allows other members to see you properly, NOT a hovering Cessna.
I made these reccomendations WITH Care, and so far up to now the users of my tour have made a VERY good effort to comply. I CANNOT make this a rule because i would obviously put people off, BUT please can you make an effort. The FLIGHT SIMULATION TOURS are meant for serious flyers who want to have a bit of fun, but enjoy a slow ride. I'm asking you all Politely not to abuse our flight Simulation Tours. I CANT stop you, but seen as our flight sim tours have been going on for almost a year know, please respect the fact that:

1. PLEASE if possible use DEFAULT Aircraft, IF you wish to use ANOTHER, Please boot in a DEFAULT aircraft and CHANGE to the one you prefere in Flight.

2. Please respect the regular flyers on my tours, they commit themselves each week to join in with my tours. If you are a large group and need to speak to each other, and are not in any of my tours, please use a different method of communication.

PLEASE dont let me sound as if i'm ruining the fun, but these little reminders WILL keep everyone happy.

I'm pretty sure the server admin will support my idea.

James - Simalive

This will be my last post in this thread, as i really don't want to continue arguing.

I think of myself now as a regular flyer in your tours jimbo, and i appreciate all the time you put in to organising them. As I said before i was flying a default GA aircraft, namely the Extra 300S, and I was just following the tour.
I have already apologised to people who take offence at me using a slightly different but nevertheless default plane, and do so again.

So may the tours continue in our trusty little beech barons, lancair legacies and mooney bravos;
...

See you next week,

.Mic

Dont get annoyed or upset about it, it was a common mistake in my books. Now that we have determined what needs doing, we can carry on making a fantasic Tour, dont you agree?

What does this :-
".....Please boot in a DEFAULT aircraft and CHANGE to the one you prefere in Flight...."
accomplish exactly James?

I use it so that I can see the proper other aircraft types,
but they report that they do not see my freebee type.

Also would my default Kingair with the freebee glass cockpit interfere as a not default type?             luke

Hi Luke, sorry to confuse you.

I reccomend this so that you BOOT in an appropriate default aircraft SO that other players can see you as the default aircraft on their screen. Give it a few mins, THEN change to your prefered aircraft for the tour. This enables the flight sim uses to see you as an accurate aircraft. For example, if i was to fly a payware Helicopter, i would show up as a default Hovering Cessna.

Hope that explains it, if you require more information please reply.

James

EDIT: You can use your freebie "Glass Cockpit" as it is mainly an default plane.
If you get unsure of anything, my best bet would be to use the good old common sense. I often forget at times.

Cheers

Quite often ill fly flying cubs piper seneca, when i fly in the tour (since I had to pay for it I might aswell make the most of it.) But If i'm flying it I ALWAYS start in the default baron (similar speed, same sort of size, samenumber of engines, nosewheel etc.) so it shouldn't make that much difference to other flyers. (unlike a380s appearing as a c172  Undecided)

I started in a default Baron last night, apologies for switching to a Pitts later - I considered using the Extra, but prefer biplanes.  In hindsight I should have switched to the Extra first, then the Pitts, so everyone else would have seen the Extra and any spontaneous loops/rolls would have been in keeping with the character of the plane.

In fact I hadn't planned to join in at all, I just checked MP for the first time in many months and it happened to be 5 mins before the tour started!

Quote:

It's not easy!  The SM-65 is touchy on all three axes (especially pitch) and needs to be handled with great care in a high-G corner.  I still haven't managed to do a smooth turn around the pylon without gaining 300ft (and losing 100kts).
