Have you tried Abacus' EZ-Scenery designer...?
It uses all the MS default and custom objects in its library for placement in your own design.

It possibly includes the factory chimneys in the library, but whether that includes smoke animation or not, I don't know...(I must try it sometime)... Wink...!

Paul....LAGO FSE/FSSE/Soundscape, Abacus EZ-Scenery designer, AFCAD, FSSC, Runway3...... 8)...!

The easiest way is to open the following in Notepad, edit your latitude, longitude and alt figures (alt is in metres), save it as a .txt or .xml file, compile it in BglComp and drop the resulting bgl file into your addon scenery folder.

No going off buying silly payware addons (it's OK for those wealthy pensioners who live ona private income and can afford it  Wink )

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<FSData
version="9.0"
xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd" >
<SceneryObject
     lat="N47 25.89"
     lon="W122 18.42"
     alt="20"
     altitudeIsAgl="TRUE"
     pitch="0"
     bank="0"
     heading="0"
     imageComplexity="NORMAL">
     <Effect
         effectName="fx_SmokeStack"
       />
</SceneryObject>
</FSData>

The Special Effects SDK contains instructions and sample .xml code for using the .xml ->bglcomp  method of placing effects in your scenery.

There are 2 default chimney smoke effects (fx_smokestack.fx and fx_smokestack2.fx).

Follow the instructions in the 'How to Place Effects in Flight Simulator 2004.doc' to place your smoke.
