hey gents,

I'm not going to make myself any friends with that one, but I have to get it out of my chest...

please stop posting polls.
on the main studioV page there are 10 polls out of 20 posts...
my feeling is that if you think your shots are so good submit them for your portfolio, and if people find your shots so good they may submit them to others vote for a gallery entry.

the point is that I wouldnt like to see studioV turning out to be just about the gallery and trying to make it through... why don't you try to enter the songbird contest for example, you have one chance to make it to the gallery..., the morph-edit contest is coming, enter it and you may make it to the gallery too...

I think that clipper is trying really hard to animate this place and it's up to us to take the defy and try to challenge him.
otherwise, one day he will be fed up with all that and we won't have anymore studioV, and anymore gallery...

StudioV is not only the gallery

that's all I have to say.
don't take it personally, please. just think about it...

thanks for reading

vince

One thing I can't understand is people's problem with lots of polls. Forgive me if I'm missing something, but surely the only difference is that it says Poll in the thread title. Surely that's not too much of a problem?

Perhaps we should start a poll about it. Grin

If Clipper had a problem I'm sure he'd point it out himself.

First of all, I want to thank my good friend Vince for thinking about the growth and well-being of our Studio. However, I think that at this stage of our Studio, the Gallery submissions are numerous true, but they are a way of interacting and i'm sure that over time our Studio will develop into many different things for everyone participating. It would be great, as Vince pointed out, if there was more participation in some of the other aspects of Studio such as Songbirds and First FSX pic competitions, but for now it is what it is. I know it'll take time for the Studio to become exactly what we all want it to be, but I'm hanging in. Vince, I want to sincerely thank you for your concern, and it's comments and caring like you've shown here that will help shape the Studio to become an even more enjoyable place to hang out.  Smiley

when you look at the main page of the studio there are lots of polls indeed.  I'm not saying there are too many of them cause its a means for people to showcase their best shots.

I've heard this idea before here :"maybe people should stop submitting their own pics for the gallery and let someone else make a poll for their shots when he thinks its good enough for the gallery"
I don't think this is a bad idea.  So far I only know of 2 people who got into the gallery through a poll.  One of them was submitted by someone else (bananabob's shot was submitted by thebrelon).

EDIT : If people want a pic on permanent display, they can always add it to their personal portfolio (thats where I've put my shot that didn't make the gallery Wink Grin)

I dont think the problem is too many polls, it is that there are too many images being submitted that arent good enough.  If there was a whole page full of polls and all of the shots were gallery material then i wouldnt mind.  However, that's not the case.  Many people submit screenshots that are really good.  This doesnt mean it should go in the gallery.  In my mind the shot has to have nothing really wrong with it.  If you could have improved it, its not good enough.  Those shots that are really good, but not excellent should go in your personal portfolio.  That's what i plan on doing with my best shots because i dont think i have any that will get into the gallery.  When i see a shot that has many more no votes then yes's, it dissapoints me.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.  I dont make the decisions.
