My speakers are picking up Gatwick Approach! (Read 283 times)

I've just got back from good ole' Argos with a set of Logitec Surround sound speakers, and I think I got more than I paid for! My speakers are actually picking up Gatwick approach control, and in the half hour I've had them, I've already picked up; 2 EasyJet flights, 3 BA, and a Virgin. There were other transmissions but I couldn't make them out. Both EasyJet, and one Speedbird, I could actually see flying over my house! One EasyJet was also given Vectors to final and I'm pretty sure it turned directy after it recived the heading  Shocked OK so it's probably not that big, but I'm pretty impressed! I think everyone thinks im crazy! Hummm, oh well. Off to listen, I think I just heard a Cubana flight!

<edit> Just realized, probably wrong section, sorry mods!

Normally, I'd say transducing a lot of radio signals is not a good trait in a speaker... but this is an exception. I never get anything from KEWR tower on mine- mostly truckers and taxis. Tongue

I've sorted the avatar in my usual fashion! Say hello to Boba Fett Grin
If you think your speakers have an issue you should have been at my great-uncle Wallys funeral. The priest said "Let us pray" everyone bowed their heads in silence and the speakers in the church started picking up Radio 1. We were all giggling... it is what he'd have wanted! One last laugh Grin

How do you get them to do that? The aircraft fly right over our house to land 5 miles away at Inverness EGPE.

I can't pick up nearby EGNT (aka boring central) through my speakers, if i REALLY want to do that (can't see why) from home I'll just turn the scanner on...

I don't know what I did! Just got them back from the shop and it started!  Grin I guess there must be a signal booster of something near my house as we are a good 50-60 miles from Gatwick itself. One of my mates also had a guitar amp that picked up the shipping channels down in Portsmouth! I also heard over at Airliners.net that a guy had a built in radio in his toilet roll holder, and it was picking up KLAX tower!

I hope I find a way to turn it off/on, as sometime, an Airtours 757 being given high speed clearance isn't the best thing to hear halfway through a song!

Anyway hope your all well,

|Alex|

P.S. Sorry Mark! Cheesy
