In preparation for releasing the AvHistory CFS3 1% Version 4 aircraft we have uploaded the CFS3 1% Version - 4 Guns & Weapons Pack to our site. The first of the Version 4 aircraft, B-17G-80 MOLLY II will be released approximately 48 hours after the Guns & Weapons Pack is posted to our site.
http://www.avhistory.orgTo install the CFS3 1% Version 4 aircraft you will need the AvHistory 1% weapons pack installed along with the CFS3 Nationality Expansion Kit (NEK) available at Sim Outhouse.
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=1989The CFS3 1% Version 4 planes will all install with a simple UNZIP into the CFS3/aircraft folder & nothing else. All required additional files are now included with the 1% weapons pack or the NEK; that's why we want you to install them first.
The weapons pack can be unzipped into the main CFS3 folder & its contents will all find their way into the correct folders. Since the Guns & Weapons pack also now contains the pylons etc it should be easy to unzip a 1% aircraft into CFS3 & fly.
Many of the values in the weapons folder have been update including damage generation & drag factors calculated the same way we do the aircraft themselves.
The CFS3 1% Version 4 weapons pack will also support all the CFS3 1% Version 2.80 aircraft that are now in use.
The Pack will be up for a few days then we will put up B-17G Molly II Version 4. Once Molly has been up a few days the B-17G Chow-Hound will go up followed by A Bit O' Lace.
Possibly a few surprise aircraft might also find their way into the mix between the girls & their pet dog.
After the initial series of downloads levels out we will be putting up aircraft on a regular basis stressing the larger ones like the Lancaster, Halifax & other bombers we have never released before.
Why a separate Guns/Weapons Pack?
To save users from having to download the same weapons many times and to make bug fixes and updates easier, a single copy of each weapon used by the aircraft is included in the Guns/Weapons pack. This means that you only have to download the weapons once for all these aircraft. When you update the Guns and Weapons Pack all AvHistory aircraft using it are correctly updated.
The next phase will be the upgrading of the games objects damage files so you cant kill a tiger tank or sink a destroyer with .303 ammo. Much of this work ( calculating the values ) has been done but it needs to be entered into the games objects. We decided rather then to continue to hold up the release of Version 4 to start to get the planes out & make running fixes to the other objects.
Finally we will also be supporting the Ground Crew and other designers with full Version 4 kits for their aircraft so those installs should be compatible with the AvHistory releases. MAW will also use Version 4 kits for all its released aircraft.
