I think he means why so many give SP2 a bad rap.

I couldn't tell you, probably some dont install it properly?
I have had it since it was beta and wont run XP with out it.

XP is only a really good OS if SP2 is installed, so I can't understand why people don't run it.

SP2 fully updated is very stable, and runs quite well. Also many newer programs require SP2 to even run.

Personally I didn't upgrade to XP until SP2 came out due to the horrable rep SP1 got.

also SP2 has a lovely habit of screwing up during installation. doesnt read properly form disk or DRIVE ive had once. and my drives are fine (less can be said for my disk drives) but i wudnt run XP without SP2 no way. just installing it can sometimes be a pain in the backside

Some programs don't run well without SP2. I think it is a necessity.

99% of SP2 install issues is due to spyware. If you make certain your PC is clean and free of any spyware(viruses) the install should go without a hitch.
