Looking in this fourm i see the threads:

Best military, 757,747,737 etc.

Did thet GA generation Die?

Looking across the field @ Avjet,Mercury, & Million air. I see a challenger, a Falcon, and a ugly (BBJ but thats beside the point) a Citation, A Beech Duke, Baron, Legacy Jet, & alot of Gulfstreams!

On our ramp, theres 1900's,C99's, SA227's PA31-350 & PA31-310,LR35,and a B200.

In the hangar next to us, they have a couple of hawkers, a C90, Challenger, & a citation.

Wheres all the A-10's, F-4's B-1b's that all these payware companys put out? Shouldnt the A/C that we see most be put out first? I know theres Aeroworx,Eagle Soft, Dream fleet, & some other companys Who put out GA Aircraft. But there are more Heavies & military out there than GA Aircraft.

Granted theres a 757 that sits next door to us and a couple of Airbuses for ups and fed ex that come in. the majority of the US Airtraffic is GA.

Wheres the Gulfstreams, Global express, Hawkers, Falcons, & lears that we see day in and day out?

IMO payware companys put out aircraft with complicated Flight systems etc. To appeal to US. Never have I used an FMC, Never have I flown anything bigger than a Citation 10 Nor do I plan too. If you have a Nav1, Nav2, ADF, Charts and DME, the FMC is in your head! I think most simmers forget that & so do the Payware companys!

So where are all the Business & ga Aircraft? They Can put out A Spitfire but Can't put out a Beech starship? The staship revolutionized composite aircraft. But I guess the Spit fire is more important......

I know there are some more GA A/C as I look out my window, espically at the Flight schools!

Shouldnt FS represent this also?

I guess they don't just appeal as much to the "fresher" audience coming into Flight Sim. They're, like me, more interested in "Faster, Higher, Cooler, and more explosions!" than aged, slower, friendlier aircraft like most GA are. Personally, I try to avoid anything slower than 200KIAS when I'm bored, and flying around in FS9. A GA such as a Cessna, or a Piper just aren't as appealing to younger people as say an F-15, or an F-16. And eventually, the day will come where they too, are no longer appealing, Although that will be quite some time seeing as WWI and WWII aircraft are still fairly popular

GA are still represented.

Look at Carenado and FSD.

The only thing that is not well represented are business jets. There is no top quality ones. Although FSD is making a Jetstar.

There is a lot of fighter jets released because there is a lot of casual simers who care mostly about eye candy.

I never fly anything supersonic.

I like a fast aircraft on occasion, but with the beautiful scenery (helped by addons) that FS9 provides nothing beats jumping into a Stearman or WACO and enjoying some low and slow flying Wink

In all of the 7+ years I've been using the MS Flight Simulators, I haven't once used, or wanted to use, an aluminium-tubed Passenger Jet, and never a Military Jet.... Angry...!

All my flying is done slowly at low level in General Aviation piston props, admiring all the efforts that Uncle Bill, and myself, has put into the scenery all around me.... Grin...!

Beautiful scenery is wasted at 50,000+ feet AGL, and travelling at Mach 1+....Shocked...!

Paul....Low and Slow.... Wink...!

Plenty of nice GA "stuff" around to suit me...Grin...!

This is what I Own aircraft wise

Eaglesoft: Citation 10, CJII,BJ400,Perimer,
FSD: Piper Navajo
Aeroworx: B200
FFS: Lear 35A
PMDG: 1900C,1900D

and the Beech A36,

all GA Aircraft!

With regards to the whole speed thing. That might be cool for offline stuff But when you try that in VATSIM you will be smacked on the wrist.

"Do not Exceed 250 KTS untill advised"

or do not exceed 250 kts 10K and below.

I dont know how many people here fly on VATSIM, but if im not testing out a new airplane, Im on VATSIM W/ over 100 hours logged in Turbo props. 1900,C99 And a SA227.

I guess companys cant make everyone happy. Just thought there would be more people out there like me.

My payware consists of WoP I and II, a Spitfire, a Vulcan, and the DH2 and Eindekker from AH.  I don't know if I'll get that Lancaster or not, it looks good but £30 is a lot of money.  I might get the Martin Mars one day.

I don't want to go faster.  I don't want to go higher.  I don't want to blow things up.  I definitely don't want to spend time consulting manuals and memorising how to set up navigation instruments!  However some people enjoy simming with fast jets or big passenger liners, probably because it's the closest they'll ever get to the real thing.  Payware companies market their products to these people.  If someone puts out an Airbus instead of a Beech Starship, it means they expect the Airbus to sell better than a Starship would.  It's a business after all, and if the end product doesn't sell enough boxes then the company goes bust.

GA is not my thing but if you want it, at least it's out there.  Right now I prefer to fly pre-WWI pioneer aircraft, there's a limited selection of freeware to be downloaded but absolutely NOTHING available in payware prior to 1914.  Not a single one.  (Correct me if I'm wrong, please!)

If you want a quality Lancaster, Plane Design's is a much fairer price - and received 5* in the same edition of PCPilot as the PMDG 747...

...and is only $20 (about £10.50 today)...

...and there's a nice Spit on the way too...

Yep, I've been watching the threads Wink

Gryshnak

Edit: Must get the PD Lanc... No, must get the JF Lanc... PD is cheaper... JF has the Mossie... must... make... decision...

Nooooo!  There's still a bit of cash left in my Paypal account!!

Must... resist... temptation...

AAAARRGHH!!!!!  I can withstand it no longer!!!

.......

There, it's done.  I've made my purchase.  I knew all along I was going to buy this one anyway, it was just a matter of deciding when, and talking myself into it.

I feel better now Smiley

...

I'll worry about the Lanc some other time, right now I'm going to enjoy the Alphasim Mars  Grin
