Hi all,
just trying to transform a bleriotXI model to fly in FS X ....
just texture problem....Textures are now .DDS DXT5 ( remember me CFS3 )
Who can tell me what is xxxx_bump_T.DDS or xxxx_specular_T.DDS for FS X ?

the rest of the model works fine :
try it :

The "bump" texture provides the 3d relief without having to model the detailed parts.  Ideal use would be wing ribs, rivets, etc.

The "specular" texture is the same as FS9.  The primary channel's color specifies the areas to be 'reflective.'

The "fresnel ramp" texture provides the information for self-shadowing.  This and the 'bump' must be specified in the model's Material Properties before they can be used.

Hi Bill
Im asuming that the material naming will be makemdl specific and the new makemdl will be needed to compile with these options?

Yes, and unfortunately that will rely on a whole bunch of new scripts to be loaded into Max6/7 (or GMax when they get it working).  Also MakeMDL.exe is being depecrated completely in favor of a completely new, XML based compiler X2MDL.exe.

There will be no .asm files whatever anymore, so any .asm 'tweaks' are going the way of the do-do bird also.

OTOH, the Attachpoint tool will be allowed (well, really required for the new features) in aircraft models.

All this means is that, while FSDS3 users will still be able to build models for FSX, they will never be able to make use of the new features until and unless Louis S. can "catch up" again.  Tongue
