Very nice...9.8  Cheesy I like the offset location of the plane and the nice scenery...some other "action" i.e. air traffiic, sunset, or just eyecandyof some type would have made it a 10...but you can round it to 10 if you want to. Tongue

8/9. Its a very nice shot Jake, excellent composition and an interesting angle. However as mentioned, I think more background activity of some sort would have made it better.

I'm going for a 7,5 outta 10

The angle is very very nice indeed but I think if you were to have just a tad more runway in front of the shadow on the runway It'd look much better!

The thing I mainly disklike is the nose of the plane ... the distance from the pit windo to the nose looks to long... to me the nose looks like a 747 nose minus the hump and a bit flattened underneath...

Also the wings look like theyre to far back

Paint is nice though I'd like to see the red stripe continue all around!

The red stripe doesnt go all the way around cause thats the way it is on the real one!

I think the main drawback is lighting. With it being day time, and with the sky looking a little pale, there isn't much depth to it. Some nice lighting, or perhaps a deeper sky colour could improve it no end.

It's a nice shot, but, even though this shot has a lot of action, it comes off as, well, quite boring, I think it comes down to a few things.

- The sky colour, bright daylight, very uninteresting colour.

- The livery is simply boring*.. Grey and white, plus a dull red colour, you should've chosen a much more colourful livery.

- Not one AI aircraft within miles..??

- I don't like the front part of the aircraft, it's too stretched.

- The angle annoys me, an even horizon would've pleased the eyes.

- Again, dull colours everywhere, I think even as little as using a black asphalt runway would've added some contrast, which is what this shot really lacks.

Rate: 6/10 - Sorry to poop the party, but I consider my critisism constructive, and you're big boy Jakey. Wink

*Not a bad repaint by you, but a boring livery in FS aswell as in real life.

To answer all your criticisms:

1. Sky color is that way cause thats when I was doing the flight.  I dont ever (EVER) 'set up' a shot, I just take them as I see them.

2. Why does a boring livery ruin a shot?  I think that the PrivatAir livery is nice, and some flashy liveries steal all the attention.

3. Again, I take things as they are.  If there are no AI, well that just means no one was in sight.  The terminal is behind the camera so you dont see anything in that one and the airport just wasn't all that busy at the time this shot was taken.

4. I streched it on purpose to give a better feel for the acceleration and speed, also why I turned on the vortices. It isnt stretched all that much anyways...

5. I cant do anything about that, limitation of the Recorder module.  I also think that adds to the sensation of takeoff

6.  Dull colors?!  WHAT?!  First of all, the sky is natural, the colors on the plane are EXACTLY what they are, I took them from a picture, and the ground (both airport ground and runway) are PHOTOREALISTIC.  I mean I guess I coulda used another plane but most BBJs are very simple, elegant paint jobs not overdone, bright, and fruity.

I follow ecko's post lol, the angle isn't that pleasing. Also, the contrails don't appear in that type of weather conditions, need to be cool humid weather. And I can't read the airline name or know what liverly then it's not complete.

My final score 6.5/10 lol!! Grin

It doesn't sound like you've taken too kindly to that! Wink

But he's right. The colours aren't particularly contrasting, therefore not really making anything stand out, resulting in a 'flat' shot. As you can see, the plane is basically grey on grey, with the clouds in the background.

As you say with flashy liveries drawing the attention, that's precisely what should happen! As there is nothing particularly interesting about the background in this shot, concentrate on making the aircraft the subject of focus.

Though if you're intent on never setting up a shot, then don't be too disheartened if it doesn't turn out exactly as you would hope. My advice would be, see a situation which you like (here, with the aircraft on takeoff) then experiment with things like weather, time of day (which is key for lighting effects), and the camera angle, though the camera angle is fine here.

Remember, this is all constructive criticism, not a flaming of your pic. Wink

To be honest Jake, from your answer, I get the feeling you don't want any critisism?

What do you mean 'its not complete'.  The livery is a PrivatAir livery, the airline name is there just as it is on the real livery, right next to the door with light blue saying "operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines" right under it.  And why cant a sunny day be cool and humid?

Actually I think the shot has quite some depth! Mainly due to the way you can see the runway go into the distance and also the taxi-way.. Those are two elements I reallly like!

Though the clouds and sky aren't contrasting much doesn't mean it isn't good! I like the soothing atmosphere in the shot.

The last thing that I really like in the shot is the transition of the clouds from quite sharp in the front to a  bit of fuzziness in the back.

Definitely not a bad shot Jake!

like it jake...the livery and scenary looks real good!  The only thing that could have made this better is a little more AI and a sunrise or sunset in the background, but I know those arent in your control.

overall, i like it a lot...8/10 Grin
