...what about the alcohol costs...? I see the cost rising as you try and cope with the added stress of such changes.  Tongue

There are a number of us out here still waiting to know if FSX will actually install and run with SP1 only...!
Because if it wont, it will mean purchasing, and installing a new, very expensive, version of Windows XP Pro SP2....
.... which costs twice as much as FSX .... Shocked...!
Personally, I dont have any problems with Trojans, Mailware, etc, etc getting past my present protection programs, so SP2 is not necessary...or wanted...
...and the download of SP2 from MS is much too large on 56k Dial-up...

About the Free SP2 upgrade disk?...don't even ask!....Wink...!

Paul....OEM Win XP Pro SP1.... 8)...!

Hurrah! Someone who shares my ideas Smiley Smiley

Sadly, when I tried to install the FS X demo.. It told me "You must have WinXP SP2 in order to play.." So,on Friday, I'm going to take the plunge and install  XP SP2.  Lips Sealed

Hee hee!

Paul, I seem to remember that you and I were among the stalwarts who always swore that they wouldn't upgrade from FS2002 to FS9!

Now where's that SP2 download site ... ?!

Seriously though, my rig just about copes with FS9. When I win the lottery (which won't be for a lo-o-o-ng time as I don't buy any tickets!) then I'll upgrade.

But not before then.

Maybe.

Great news, I am not installing SP2 just for FSX...screw it...if the retail version doesn't allow us to play with SP1, I'll never buy FSX...even if that means giving up aviation...

I have SP2 on both our computers, one a higher end comp, and it ran FSX great with only a bit of lag when settings were maxed. I also have sp2 on my laptop which i was surprised at how well it ran FS9. Well untill my format when i used the wrong boot disk  Roll Eyes now it has its moments  Grin  But in my opinion SP2 is fine and doesent bog down my machiene
