Ahh the most difficult thing to catch in FS9. In real life we have long exposures to get that shot but in FS, nothing but a quick finger and some luck. With my Contest entry I got lucky enough to catch a good one and I think i may have some tips  Grin

1. The lower the FPS the better, if you have one frame a second you may have a long time to hit pause and grab the shot you want. Sometimes you do have to rely on a lucky break  Grin

2. So you got the lightning, now what? While the sim is paused cameras still work, I like useing tower view when I dont have recorder available so I can place the camera exactly how I want it. However spot can often replicate exactly. I reccomend recorder whenever possible.

3. Still got the lightning? Good! Oh, you dont like the atmosphere of the picture? Want it earlyer or later but dont want to lose the lightning? Well no problem! Some of you may know this already but once you get the lightning and the sim is paused,  its not going anywhere! While I was adjusting things for my shot I was afraid I would lose the lightning if I changed the weather, but I tried anyway, I set it to a diffrent set and I still had my lightning! I even had a clear blue sky with a lightning strike coming from nowhere. Its great to play around with settings to find just what you wanted from your lightning shot.

Now I can't help you get the lightning into the pic, thats still up to pauseing several times and hopeing for the best. This was sorda just a story from tonights shot but I hope it helps someone somehow!  Grin 8)

some good tips there baw...i find the easiest way i capture lightning if needed is to increase the game speed to about 16x or more with slew engaged then quickly pause and release this usually gets you a flash or two nearly everytime, once youv'e got what you want feel free to mess with weather and time just like baw says above Smiley Smiley

Thanks for the tips, already tried the 16x one and it worked very well, but I didn't know the lightning would stay while you change the weather... could be very useful for night shots...thanks!

Also, it easy to pause on lightning with 1/4 speed as well. Smiley
