I have yet to meet a non-pilot who had any idea what Airventure was, and that includes a friend who grew up in Wisconsin. And it's been the single biggest aviation event in the country for decades now.

Besides... things seem pretty casual at Wittman during the show week, but people are keeping an eye on the flight line- people who know what they're looking for, and what to do about it. If anyone were foolish enough to do something nasty there, hoping for some collective national anguish (mistake #1), they'd have a hard time pulling it off.
  You could possibly sneak in some bottle rockets and set an ultralight on fire from the campground, but other than that, I don't see much chance of "The Terrorists" making a mess of Airventure.
