How big do you think FSX wll be space wise?

i think FS8 was like half a gig, and i dont know what FS9 was, but apparently FSX is going to be alot more detailed and complex so, it should take up a whole lot more space correct?

So much space that you won't have any room on your stock hard drive so you will have to spend an additional $100+ for a new hard drive that can hold more room than the "National Archives". Grin

If it's going to be shipped on DVD, I'd assume it's going to be rather large.

FS 98 was a single CD
FS2000 = 2CDs
FS2002 = 3CDs
FS2004 = 4CDs
common sense would tell us that it would be the equivelant of 5 CDs then so 700x5=7500MB or 3.41 GB

probably more when it off the dvd though

I can see the future now. One day, DVDs will be so obsolete that future games/sims will be in multi-DVDs. Grin

Actually, if you read about Sony's new 'Blue Ray' discs (for the PS3), they're supposed to be able to hold something like 53.1 Gigabytes, and dat is alot of bytes! Wink

Aren't those Blue Ray discs just HD DVDs? That's what I heard on G4, but they aren't always reliable.

I'd say around 8gb, and around 5gb compressed on the DVD.

FS9 is 1.8 outa the box, but most of us move that decimal one place to the right in no time.  I dont think it matters how big it is DEFAULT, but how many awesome addons we get

That's not correct. Blu Ray is a completely different technology from HD DVD. And much more dense. There are currently 200GB CDs beeing produced; with original sizes starting from 25GBs. HD DVD can only go up to about 90. (as far as my research reveals).

As far as FSX being released on 2 DVDs? One DVD is 4.81GBs So it would be safe to assume that it would be in 5-8GB range compressed on the DVD.

Since 2 DVDs equal to just under 10GBs... taking up 14 on your HD is possible, but thats kind of pushing it. I would stick closer to the 10GB uncompressed side.
