Hi everybody. Can anybody help me? I have been patiently waiting for Lee Swordy to produce a version of AFCAD with flattening but it hasnt come yet. I`m desperate to find a simple method of flattening an area so that I can add taxiway, parking etc

Or you can use FlattEx (at a number of sites, e.g. Avsim), which is a small program that generates the text flatten line that you can insert into the scenery.cfg file.

If it's only a function of Flatten you need (and not one of Exclude as well) you can use the apron tool in AFCAD.
Wherever you lay a new apron the terrain is automatically flattened under it. A Flatten is laid automatically under the taxiways too, but not under the runways.
The creative use of underlying aprons and taxiways allow you to make a runway not disappear under disuniformities of rough terrain or make "bridges" without searching for a tool outside AFCAD.
BUT, if you need an Exclude function too... well, AFCAD is sorely lacking under that department and no respite is in sight. Then you need to use another program.

Woops! I posted a link to the "exlusion tutorial and not the flatten tutorial.
But ashman is right. AFCAD's aprons will automatically flatten the terrain.

Hi Again, Many thanks for all the replies. As the Judes say in the USA `I will take this under advisement`. I will read and digest all and report back. In the meantime, love the pic of Emma Peel. I still get goosbumps looking at her!

ok everybody. Read everything. I have laid tarmac and parking and taxiways in one project using that tool was fine. When I came to do the same to a UK Airfield I had trees sticking up everywhere and that`s why I raised my problem. I obviously need an exclude file. Fun isnt it?
